Tom - a £20.00 card now at £25.00 is the Freesat from SKY card - The "Freesat" service backed by the BBC and ITV requires you to purchase your own receiver, but having done so there is no charge for a card nor are there any subscription charges to pay.

Freesat on Freeview HD

Jan Baker - The Humax receiver you require is the FOXSAT HDR (available with either a 320GB or 500GB Hard Drive). The 320GB model has the option of being motorised and therefore can be set-up for multi-satellite reception. the 500GB model doesn't have this feature.

The "Freesat" EPG (electronic programming guide) which currently will auto tune around 200 or so channels but doesn't have SKY news included. However the receiver also has a standard European EPG option and can be set-up manually after the auto set-up of the former. Several hundred more channels are tuned in,in this mode, including SKY News. It's then a one button press on the remote to switch between the two options

Jan - I should have pointed out that the 320GB Humax HDR doesn't have to be motorised it's simply an additional feature - it can be utilised or not. Doesn't feature at all used with a static dish nor make the receivers normal operation in any way more complex.

Upgrading from Sky+HD to Freesat+HD | Freesat

Dennis Steven - I think I would opt for the Humax - The Samsung receiver has similar features but their were some bugs in the software and whilst some of these were resolved in a software update one or two remain. It's really a matter of personal choice, but the Humax DTR reamains currently the market leader.

Upgrading from Sky+HD to Freesat+HD | Freesat

Wendy - If you are are intending to install the non-recording Humax Foxsat HD receiver then the existing single cable from the dish will suffice. If your opting for the recording Humax Foxsat HDR model then an additional cable and or replacement LNB that's the the item on the end of the dish arm may be required. - Thus said you shouldn't be looking at something that's an expensive upgrade. It's a mater of personal choice between the two receivers but if you can make use of the existing receiver elsewhere at home eg:- a bedroom or kitchen etc, then the latter receiver offers more flexibility and options than your existing box.

Wendy - Apologies here ---seems I am not yet fully awake this morning! Of course you don't have an existing receiver at the moment. Everything else though in my response to you applies.

Susana - No you can't manage this unless you had a friend or relative with a slingbox in the US, or where you had a second home there with a receiver at that locus.

Were you on to be on holiday there, with a receiver back here, you would be able to access the receiver and be able to watch any TV recordings on it. Likewise with Sling boxes mobile application on an iphone ipad or any android capable device.

Saunders - Internet connection via your TV - You can either use a home plug set piggy backing on your home power supply with a connection from the wall plug nearest your tV and one to the nearest outlet to the router (Instructions come with the plug set) or this can be done wirelessly where a dongle is supplied as an optional extra by your TV manufacturer or a cheaper option than this with a Netgear or similar Universal WiFi internet adapter from eg:- Amazon. The Panasonic has "SMART" capability linking to specific applications eg:- "YouTube" etc but unlike the Sony, possibly also the Samsung a Browser application. This means you can access the applications that the Panasonic has, but nothing else.

Adeline - Your Freeview recorder won't really be any use to you in Spain. You might be able to receive Satellite broadcasts from the UK. but will require a larger dish antenna. It's possible an ex pat rigger(s) may be operating in the Barcelona area who could advise you on this. - You can check this out through ads in the local English language paper once there.
