Brian - Just to add to my last post "Strong's" own HD DTR receiver looks remarkably like the "Icecrypt" HD DTR Turbosat UK's own branded range of receivers - as yet not available as a Freesat product but offered up as a "Freeview one. This lends me to think that they are producing set boxes for others.???

Wayne - I suspect your problem is in you having the dish mounted to your TV Aerial pole. It's likely the TV aerial pole is unsuitable in diameter and in the fixings and allowing the dish to fractionally move with any wind load at all-thus your signal loss.

Hassan - I would first switch the receiver end connections from the dish this will allow you to eliminate any problem with the older Pace box. If it's working on the feed you had your newer reciver connected to then you've established where the problem lies. If all is well with both receivers when connected to a working feed from the dish then the problem is either (a) the LNB itself (B) water ingress to the cable feed and or a bad cable feed connection at the LNB end.

Ronaki - If your thinking of installing "Freesat" yourself then your best bet for all that's required is "Satcure" as they will supply you with matched components and correct quality cabling (WF100) in whatever length you require. They also offer good installation guides for those who are DIY installs. Personally I would opt for a Triax TD series 54cm Dish a little more expensive than the bog standard wire mesh type but better quality and much easier to set up. - requires an LNB with a standard 40mm collar. Some of the SKY type are not standard in this respect. In the available SD receiver options I would recommend the Manhattan over the others.

Roland Parfit - The signal booster is where your problem is as the digital signal is stronger than the former analogue and it's being boosted up again with the amp. If the cabling to the various rooms is Satellite grade then It might be possible to consider a conversion by putting in a multiswitch in the loft where four inputs are brought in from a Quatro/Quad LNB fitted to the dish to the multiswitch (5 inputs - 4 satellite inputs and 1 Terrestrial from your aerial and 8 out to your outlets). This means the Terrestrial, Satellite and DAB can be fed from a single cable to the wall outlets. - "Not possible if the existing wiring isn't' Satellite grade"! - Two feeds would be necessary to your lounge to allow for a Satellite receiver such as a SKY or Freesat or Freeview plus installation. Obviously you can have a much simpler conversion of the existing system in the removal of the amp. if however the existing wiring is satellite grade and your skilled then it's something that's worth cosidering.

Ruth - Dependent om where your SKY dish is located it may be an easier option to bring a feed cable from that to a "Freesat" receiver in the kitchen. Your options may be more complex by virtue of you residing in a rented property. Probably best to consult the factor/rental agency beforehand if this means bringing wires through walls etc.

Brian - I did another check on SD Freesat boxes and it looks like the SD ones have been dropped and as Mark posts the cheapest which is HD is at Argos.

Brian - The info I have is that "Strong" are a Japanese manufacturer, but it could be that they are producing all of the "Thompson" branded receivers including those made in the past. Sometimes it's difficult to know who is the parent company these days as they could either be a part of the one outfit or as in the automotive industry share plants and manufacturing facilities. Certainly in the past "Strong" used to produce reasonable quality receivers.
