My uncle who is 86 and partially sited, could get all the Freeviewchannels perfectley well on his TV with his freeview box before the switch over in his area on 7th September on that day we retuned it for him and he lost BBC1 and BBC2 but when we did the 2nd retune on 21st September hoping to get 1&2 back for him we couldn't get any channels whatsoever and we tried over and over again, but to no avail, finally we rang the number that had been shown on the TV I spoke to the gentleman on the phone and gave him all the details of the freeview box and he went through the retune with me but again nothing happened so he checked the serial number of the box and told me it was out of date, what I want to know how old do they have to be for them to be out of date? I was told my uncle could get a box for free because he was over 75 and partially sited, but when I rang the free number about this I was told because he wasn't registered with them he would have to phone back in a couple of days to do so but even then he would have to wait over a week for an engineer to come and fit him one in, so in the end he ended up having to spend money on a TV set with freeview in as he didn't want to risk another box going out of date and he didn't want to be without a TV for over a week, and at the beginning of all this switchover the public was told it should not cost us anything if we had a freeview box.
