A neighbour who had Sky+ installed 18 months ago began to have problems, channels missing, low signal strength in others, never above 30%.I offered to take a look at the dish, rachable only with an extension ladder. No insulation tape had been attached to either cable where screwed into LNB. The Andrews LNB had not been firmly locked into its bracket. However this was easily rectified.Sky box was tested on my freesat system.Result box not working after 18 months. Before I looked at system, Sky Ireland quoted 100 euro as call charge.I rang Sky and told tham about the unsatisfactory installation.Next call by the suscriber resulted in an offer from Sky to replace the box free of charge. However this was declined. For less than the monthly fee of 44 euro Upc cable supplied two Digital+ boxes, one HD and promised no call out charge ever.

There appears to be a lack of intrest south of the border in preparing for the DSO.Of the estimated1.6M homes in the republic,250,000 are content to receive Irish tv only. With a few days left 100,000 are not reasdy for DSO.Numerous ads in newspapers, leaflet drops offering immediate installation of combi receivers for Saorview and Freesat plus equipment. There appeassrs to be more interest in Northern Ireland.Since the South enjoys the benefit of uk tv reception across different platforms,Irish tv should be delivered across all of the province.Regional tv in the North gives the weather forecast for the South daily.UTV made a submission to Comreg objecting to the planned closing down of MMDS tv service to rural areas as 60,00 homes would lose reception of UTV in the South.I long ago noticed all the tv aerials in loyalist areas of the North receiving Irish tv.

Sky who have the rights to some Champions League games in UK will not be pleased to read PaulINs comment and no doubt will move to close this access to the games in NI.

Brian is playing a blinder helping poeople in Northerh Ireland to receive Irish tv.Years ago i was in a loyalist controlled town and a nationalist community applied for a licence to relay signals by cable from an RTE transmitter. The reply given to the appllication was no foreign tv would be allowed in their area of control.I know Derry had led the way in the early 70s.Brian you are doing as much work as the politicans who brought about the Good Friday agreement.

I have noticed on my free to air satellite system that STV never shows live FA cup football which ITV 1 and UTV covers.Instead viewers are served up old films which fall far short of good entertainment.West Ham v Man Utd replay is in live next Wednesday on ITV 1.Im sure many viewers in Stv area would prefer live FA cup football.

Sky suscribers who lose service because of adverse weather conditions are entitled to receive credit for loss of same.Contact Sky and demand credit, the met office can prove that certain areas had heavy snowfalls.

Skys monopoly on exclusive righs to the Bundesliga top division football appear to have ended.State channel Das Erste showed a live game last Friday nightSchalke 04 v Hannover.I have watched German match of the day on this channel for several years band have yet to see a 70 year old child having tantrums on the line because some prima donna did not get a penalty.Families stand on terraces in 80,000 capacity stadia and witness respect from players and managers towards officials.
