Made in Leeds now on loop promo. OK in Wetherby 20% signal but 100% quality according to HUMAX PVR but Toshiba TV says 80% signal and 100% quality C/N 17dB BER 0.

Having seen a post on the Winter Hill page about CBS Action, I've just scanned Ch48 and the place holder 90 for CBS Action and orange info' screen is there as well.

bill dennison: PAL Analogue TV was good but not perfect. The worst aspect of digital signals is the 'cliff' effect. You either get it your you don't.. Since analogue switch-off most problems people have seem to be due to overlap of areas now the power of the MUXes has risen. After a re-tune, some receivers ask if you are GBR which you accept if no alternative is given, then asks ENGLAND which again you accept if no alternative and then a REGION which may give you several alternatives if you can receive weak signals from an adjacent area. Choose wisely and if you never had problems before you should be fine. If this dialogue doesn't happen you will have to search manually your most local channels. My old Humax standard definition PVR doesn't give the dialogue but my HD PVR and Toshiba TV do. Hope this helps.

C. Kennedy: Most services on the Astra satellite at 28.2 degrees east now use a tighter beam to serve the UK only with small dishes. This mainly affects the BBC, ITV, Ch4, Ch5 channels and you will now need a large dish to get these. Difficult to estimate exactly what size as the data from SES-Astra is sketchy but you could need 1.5 to 2 metres diameter. It will not matter what make of satellite receiver you use, it's all to do with the dish size. Some of the lesser important channels still use beams that cover Innsbruck and if you are having problems with them then you must be using a dish that is too small. A Freeview receiver using an ordinary UHF antenna will only find the local Austrian channels from the ORF Patscherkofel transmitter near Innsbruck. http://de.wikipedia.org/w…fel.

C Kennedy: I put out a reply for you but it seems to have got lost. Satellite is the ONLY way you will see the channels you want in Innsbruck and now they are on a very tight beam for the UK you will need a dish maybe as big as 2m as the detail for this is lacking on SES-Astra's specifications. A Freeview receiver will only pick up the local ORF channels from the Patscherkofel UHF transmitter near Innsbruck. A Sky europe subscription will not get you your wanted channels. They are free so any satellite receiver will do. It's all in the dish. Is there not a cable service that 'pirates' the UK signals.

Sally six: Assuming your dish is 60cm or larger. Burgundy appears to have adequate coverage by the new tight beams from the satellites at 28.2deg.east so I should get him back to prove he has pointed the dish at those satellites and no others. If the dish is correctly setup then depending on the channels you want, you'll have to get the receiver replaced. If you need/want the Sky UK pay channels, that may be a problem.

mark kelly: #1) Where are you? If in the UK , get a local installer to check for a possible failure. #2) What size dish do you have now? #3) Do ALL satellite channels freeze? Some channels have not changed in coverage area when the public service ones have gone onto a tight 'UK only' beam. With the detail given, to be able to pinpoint your problem is not possible.

John: Exact figures are not quoted by Astra-SES, the satellite owners, for the new UK only beams carrying BBC, ITV, Ch4 and Ch5 but 80cm is probably much too small now for your location. Pick is carried on an unchanged wide(and powerful)beam so that is why you are still getting it. A bigger dish is needed for BBC etc. but its size will be subject to experimentation, possibly as big as 2metres.

Did a search on the local MUX (Emley Moor ch56). Only POP on 75 found, 64 now removed.
