The comments made by the tv engineer seemed rather odd to me but Mum and Dad were pleased to get their primary source of entertainment working ok again so they didn't question the explanation. We live some distance away from them so can't readily answer your questions. Dad was also told not to retune the tv by the engineer, which I also find odd, but may hold the answer to some of your questions

Seaford
My in-laws live in Seaford and experience picture and sound break up quite often. After last weekends stormy weather they were unable to receive an uninterrupted signal so they called in a local tv engineer to investigate the problem. Their rooftop aerial and tv were found to be ok - the fault was put down to signals from the Isle of Wight transmitter interrupting Newhaven with a clicking sound? The problem was alleged to be a well known issue, according to the tv engineer. Seems remarkable in this age of technology that an issue of this nature cannot be addressed. Any help would be appreciated.
