Val Adams: In Wales S4C is transmitted on Mux D3+4 instead of E4. This results in E4 being carried full time on the SDN mux instead of Challenge TV which in turn is carried part-time during the time slot which is occupied by CITV in the rest of the UK.

David Elder: The Digital UK postcode checker predicts that you should have good reception on all six muxes in your area if you use the Black Hill transmitter. You will need a group B aerial mounted for horizontal polarisation to receive Black Hill. If you are currently using the Haddington relay transmitter you will only receive the 3 PSB muxes from that site.

Paul: The Digital UK postcode checker predicts (reasonably) good reception on all six muxes from Wenvoe at your location. Check that your cables and connectors are all in good order, also check for single frequency interference, that is if any VCR or Sky box has the RF modulator set around C49. It is possible that trees in leaf growing in the signal path are obstructing the signal at this time of the year. Using a good quality group B receiving aerial will give more gain than a similar size of wideband aerial on the Wenvoe frequencies.

Jamie: What is your postcode?- so a check can be made of which transmissions are expected to be receivable at your location.

C49 (698.0MHz) after switchover
Tuesday 12 July 2011 9:11AM

Mike Incles: Check for single frequency interference on C49. You mention that you are high up, I wonder if you are receiving a signal from Sudbury which changed the frequency of the SDN mux to C49 on 6th July 2011.What is your postcode?- so a check can be made on the trade predictor of what you are expected to be able to receive at your location.

jaz4: The Freeview services you are currently receiving are from Sutton Coldfield, there are no digital signals from the Derby relay until 31st August 2011 when Mux BBCA and Mux D3+4 will replace analogue BBC East Midlands and Central East. The HD mux on C52 from Derby relay is expected to be added on 5th October 2011. At present the Digital UK postcode checker predicts that you should have good reception of the temporary HD mux from Lichfield on C34. If you cannot find a signal from Lichfield check for single frequency interference on C34, possibly from a VCR or Sky box. If reception of this low power transmitter proves not to be possible the high power HD service from Sutton Coldfield starts on 21st September 2011.

C49 (698.0MHz) after switchover
Tuesday 12 July 2011 4:16PM

Mike Dimmick: It would be very interesting to see the radiation patterns for Sudbury, which due to a shortage of frequencies together with a need to deliver a signal strong enough to give reasonable coverage in the face of possible interference from the continent has led to more complicated arrangements for serving the area than would normally be necessary. It would not be surprising if any restriction to protect C5 from Oxford has been lifted with the Oxford switchover only a few weeks away.

John: This is probably a case of single frequency interference. The Mux ArqB signal could be being blocked by an analogue signal from the RF modulator of a VCR or Sky box set around C53, or it may be that you are receiving a low level signal from Cefn Mawr which also uses C53. A power restriction is currently in force at Cefn Mawr to help protect viewers to The Wrekin from interference, but as you are predicted to receive signals from Cefn when the power is raised in September (after The Wrekin COM muxes change frequency) it is possible that your aerial is, by chance, positioned where it receives a signal now. The Digital UK postcode checker predicts a full Freeview service to be available from Winter Hill, this being the best option for the COM muxes in 2013.

Caroline Prise: The problem is the frequencies now used by the COM muxes at Durris are the same as those used at Knockmore for the PSB muxes, which can result in "No Signal" in the area where coverage overlaps. The Digital UK postcode checker predicts poor reception for you from Durris on the COM muxes. The solution in many affected areas is to use Knockmore, at least for the COM muxes, however the Digital UK postcode checker makes no prediction for reception from Knockmore on any mux at your location. It is possible, since Knockmore is roughly at 90 degrees to Durris that a location for the aerial could be found where there is a signal from Durris but the Knockmore signal is nulled out. This can be very time consuming and require a lot of patience but is worth it if it proves successful.

Sheila: You need a replacement or additional aerial pointing to Knockmore to receive all the Freeview channels. Trying to use a booster to amplify a weak signal (if there is one) which has been picked up on the side of the "wrong" aerial is likely to give very poor results and could overload your tuner with too much signal on the channels you already have.
