Waltham (Leicestershire, England) Full Freeview transmitterSaturday 8 December 2012 10:55AM
Leicester
I'm very impressed with all the effort Briantist must put in to supply all this information(which has been helpful more than once)and I should like to express my appreciation.
Looking forward to retuning next May!
I have to tune manually to Waltham transmitter otherwise I get problems with Syutton Coldfield competing.

Last nighht, Monday, 10TH. JUNE, I LOST ALL "INDEPENDENT" CHANNELS FROM WALTHAM-ON-THE-WOLDS - ITV1, Channel 4, Yesterday etc. BBC channels were fine. I had previously done the required retune for BBC and everything was functioning normally.

The missing channels reappeared during the afternoon of Tuesday 11 June. This was not as a result of any action I took.

Waltham (Leicestershire, England) Full Freeview transmitterWednesday 10 July 2013 10:45AM
Leicester
Like Carl, yesterday, Tuesday 9th.July, at breakfast time, we had no Freeview signal from Waltham on any channel. This was the case with two independent receivers from two separate aerials. The night before everything was perfect. Later, mid-morning, everything was back to normal. We had not done anything to cause this.
There were "no reported problems." How come no-one else has reported this including Waltham?

It is vandalism to scrap the FM radio network when most people have so much investment in it and DAB offers no improvement sound-wise - in practice it is usually a down-grade. As usual, the consumers are put last, behind political and commercial interests.

My TV is tuned to Waltham-on-the-Wolds and until recently I had good reception of all appropriate Freeview channels.
Recently I was prompted to do some updates and auto scans, which I did.
On trying to receive the new HD channels (BBC4 , which was annonced this morning in connexion with the New Year's Day concert) I discovered that I could not get BBC1HD and BBC2 HD, which previously I could. I had a "no signal" notice.
I did a new auto scan and after that I could get the HD channels (not BBC4) but the quality was very poor - unwatchable - while the SD channels were fine.
I have seen a few posts about trouble with HD but did not take particular notice as I did not think I was affected.

jb38: Many thanks for the responses.
I've now done a check on signal strength etc. from Waltham. It lists channel 58, which is correct for Waltham HD, and not Ch. 40 which is think is HD from Sutton Coldfield. Am right in thinking that I am correctly tuned in for Waltham HD?However, the signal strength for Ch 58 is shown as about zero, and it is preceeded by a red triangle with an exclamation mark inside, like a road warning sign. What does that mean? What should I do? Is this just a temporary loss of service (I hope!)

Many thanks to JB for the interest and help.Today, 3rd.January, our BBC1 AND BBC2HD channels are still scrambled, but now Channels 3 and 4 are also scrambled. But BBC1 and BBC2SD, all from Waltham, are perfect. We haven't seen any notices of transmitter trouble,so what is going on??

Thanks again for further comments.
I have a top-quality indoor aerial aligned to Waltham-on-the-Wolds and for several months I have had good reception on this, including HD, with my LJ TV with integral tuner. Then suddenly in the last 2 days Channels 54 and 57 have become unwatchable, while channel 49 gives perfect results. A signal-strength test reflects that situation. Although officially W-on-the-W is our best station, this is not so because we are on the wrong side of a hill for direct-line-of-sight reception. Perhaps the weather has played a part??
We have a 4G filter fitted, one which came free in the post, and I do not know of any 4G transmitters near us.
We also have an outdoor aerial aligned to Sutton Coldfield, which gives us a much better signal; I route this into a Humax recorder, but this does not handle HD.
We have the TV tuned to Waltham so that we can get the East Midlands programmes.
Until recently this all worked fine!

FOR THE LAST TWO OR THREE DAYS WE HAVE HAD VERY BAD RECEPTION OF ALL bbc CHANNELS FROM WALTHAM ON FREEVIEW. NORMALLY IT IS VERY GOOD. THE BBC SAYS EVERYTHING IS FINE.
WE ARE IN LEICESTER.
INDEPENEDENT CHANNELS ARE PERFECT.
