thanks for the advice I will try this and post the result to let you all know how I get on.
I am still puzzled as to why the box would have worked OK for a few days though and then start to fail. Is there an explanation for this?

Hi
I bought a Sagecom RT190 T2 HD freeview recorder for my Mum for Xmas and installed it for her on the 28th Dec. It worked OK until the 1st Jan but now the image is pixillating and the signal strengh keeps varying btween high and low. Connecting the roof top ariel back to the freeview receiver in her LG TV gives a normal picture so the problem seems to be the new box. We did a reset which worked for a few hours although we lost the HD channels (BBC, ITV-1). In the morning the problem was the same with the images pixillating. Has anyone got any ideas on what i can do? Her post code is WF2 6DY and i think the transmitter is Emley Moor.
