The reception prediction map for my locationused to display reception from the Durris transmitter as the strongest signal but this is not now the case.
Can you advise why this has changed and should I now be re-aligning my arial?

My computer fails to display the "Terrain" version of the Freeview Signal Prediction Maps - I am using Internet Explorer 8. Can you advise what I need to do to enable the maps to be displayed?

The current signal prediction for my location near Insch, Aberdeenshire currently shows best reception to be from Gartly Moor transmitter. But previous predictions during 2011 showed the best signal to be from Durris transmitter and I had aligned my arial to Durris.
Why has this changed?
Should I be realigning my arial to Gartly Moor?
Would I receive the same range of channels from Gartly Moor?

On a separate subject - the "Terrain" version of the signal map for my area is not available on my computer (I am using Internet Explorer 8). What enhancement to my computer systems are necessary to enable the "Terrain" map to be displayed?

Thanks for your response.
I have no serious problems (that I am aware of) with reception from Durris so have no reason to re-align my arial. My queries arose after being advised that Durris would have a weaker signal this week - I happened to see the signal prediction map and found it had changed since I had last looked at it.

Recently (on Sat 3rd Dec I think) the signal strength when watching ITV3 degraded with the picture on the screen becoming distorted and then gradually disappeared altogether with the message "no signal" being displayed.
My antenna is positioned to receive our signal from the Durris transmitter.

The "no signal" situation still prevails as at this date despite the transmitter showing no problem.

Although we had problems receiving this channel during the early stages of digital switchover, we have been receiving a good signal for this channel for over 9 months with no significant drop-off.
Can anyone explain what has changed (I am fairly sure that the problem is signal strength because that was the problem that we had during switchover).

I experienced very similar symptoms that began early Dec 2012 and prevailed well into 1st quarter 2013. I live in Aberdeenshire AB52.
The symptoms in Dec 2012 (pixilation, intermittent signal, "no signal", etc.) appeared to me to be identical to those that I experienced during switchover i.e. claimed to have been caused by the low strength signals that were being transmitted at that time for technical reasons.
My Dec 2012 problems disappeared some time during Feb/mar 2013 for no apparent reason (at least certainly not due to any changes that I made).

I have raised with my local councillor the problems that I have been intermittently experienced. I am seeking her advice on which part of which government I should be directing a complaint about the very poor standard of service being provided by Freeview to people like me who are on the periphery of the signal area of transmitters (Durris and Gartly Moor are relevant to me). Had I been better informed at switchover, I definitely would have opted for Freesat but am reluctant now to do so because of the expenditure for new antennae, signal boosters etc. that I have incurred.

I suggest that we should all complain to our MP/MSP as relevant and try to elevate awareness of the problems that are being experienced. A nice challenge to present to MPs/MSPs when election time rolls around again?
