That did for the career of my friend Donald Baverstock who was Program Director of Yorkshire TV which lost its signal completely for a time and then operated on low power for quite some time. Not tthe only mast colapse. The Big AM Radio mast at Brookmans Park fell across the old north road when the people doing maintenance removed one too many stays at the same time.
What's a few hours out of a few channels compared with those impressive cockups!

I was involved in a very, very junior capacity in the commissioning on site of the first high power TV transmitter at Sutton Coldfield in the late 1940s. It took us over a fortnight to get it even to stay on for more than a half a minute. The safety trips (for the safety of the transmitter, not us) were the biggest problem! Today's experience at Hannington is Rolls Royce compared with that.
