Hi, I was interested to see the comments above about poor reception. I have also been experiencing drop outs and pixilation on Newhaven C50 for the last week or so in the Seaford area. Signal strength, which is usually about 75 will suddenly drop very low and even to zero sometimes.I have tried retuning and have checked everything out but couldn't find any problem at my end, so I am pleased that others are reporting problems.

When retuning, I have also noticed that channel 48 from Whitehawk Hill is being received at about 25 when all the other channels from Whitehawk are about 60. It's actually coming in less strong than channel 28 from Rowridge.

I'm also not receiving a Newhaven signal in Seaford (BN25). The transmitter must be down.

Newhaven (East Sussex, England) Freeview Light transmitter

BN25 3ES. Along with my TV, I have a Panasonic Blue Ray/ Hard Disc recorder that I use to record freeview programmes to watch later.

Everything has worked perfectly until a few weeks ago after retuning both the TV and the recorder a small problem developed. It only affects the HD programmes from Newhaven on C40 and does not show up at all on the Standard definition channels.

When setting up recordings the programme information is available on all channels. However, when playing back that same programme information is available for Standard Definition channels, but is not available for the High Definition channels on C40.

I have gone through the reset procedures about 5 or 6 times without any success. It does not seem to be a problem with the recorder or with the signal strength.

I am having problems picking up C30 HD from Newhaven on both my TV and my recorder in the last few days. C23 and C26 are working perfectly, but C30 produces no results at all. Having checked signal strength and signal quality, both are reported on the TV and recorder as good. There are no reported faults from the Newhaven Transmitter. Help.

Further to my problem with C30, I have now managed to sort it. I had previously tried to retune both machines without any success, even after doing a complete wipe of the tuning list and starting from scratch.
However, after doing a complete wipe, turning the TV and recorder off to clear any static, and then retuning each one, I finally managed to get C30 working properly on both machines.
What I still don't understand is how I managed to get the same problem at the same time with two separate machines.

Hi Chris
thanks for your reply.
As you can see, with persistence, I have solved the problem that I had. It must have been static all along.

I aways do a manual tune of C23, C26, C30, C32, C33, C34 in order to pick up Newhaven and the transmissions I want from Whitehawk. I don't usually have any problems with Newhaven but the Whitehawk transmissions can get atmospheric interference sometimes, more often in the summer.

I live in Seaford. I pick up 23,26,30 from Newhaven. I also pick up 32,33,34 from Whitehawk Hill with an ariel amplifyer. Usually the whitehawk signal is good power and quality. It used to be affected occasionally by atmospherics. More recently I have had more problems, particularly on 33 and 34. When affected, those channels show 95% signal strength but very poor quality, giving an intermittant signal. Most times when that happens, 32 is still showing 95% signal strength and 100% quality and coming through fine. It seems to me, if it was atmospherics, all three would be affected at the same time. Does anyone have any ideas?
