We stopped receiving digital TV signals to our home in PH25 on 24 December 2017. (We receive from the Grantown link transmitter.) We have a number of TV points in the home services by an SLX 8B distribution amplifier (87824). When we lost signal from the main Tv point, we tested it on 2 others which had the same problem.
We had a new wideband aerial installed in summer 2016 and had no previous issues. We have a new Samsung TV with built in Freeview tuner.
We have undertaken all the usual diagnostic procedures (rescanning for channels etc.). So far we have been unable to diagnose the fault.
Testing the SLX 8B distribution amplifier: We have tested our aerial with the TV plugged directly in and all works. We have tested the SLX amp with a spare output and all works. This would tend to suggest the wiring from loft to room is faulty but this seems extremely unlikely, especially as all rooms are affected.
This fact in itself suggests the SLX box is at fault, but our testing indicated otherwise. It has a short I ruin feature which individually cuts off the signal to individual outputs. Could this be causing the problem, and if so why? The SLX manual suggests that there could be a problem if the signal is too strong and that a signal attenuators may be required between aerial and amp. If this is the case, would there be any explanation of why this should have occurred on 24 December 2017?
