Vic Quaglieni: We need a postcode to help, plus signal strength and what mux your watching. If its happening at the same time each day, that sounds like single source interference - any switches, etc that come on around that time?

Christopher Wilton: 60-70% should be fine, so thats odd. You can check the signal path yourself by putting in your postcode when you comment, and lots of links below your comment will appear, including terrain plot.

The Snail: Whats your signal strength on all the muxes? If some muxes are vanishing, but others just holding on, that points to a possible wiring problem, with some muxes going, but others (even though they might be of the same power) surviving.
Since they are on both TV's (same brand, hence similar tuners?), that points to a common problem, so its likely to be a cable problem from the aerial to where the signal splits. Do you have a booster? And could it be failing?
I suspect that a cable might literally be hanging by a thread....

Christina : Whats your signal strength on the various muxes? Although some boxes can have a sudden software problem, if you getting interfrence or breakup, then the signal is normally too low or too high. If its too low, then its often a result of a fault in the aerial system - a frayed or broekn cable, etc.
Its noy impossible for a temp inversion to occur (some people had one the other week), but there hasn't been anything reported yet.
Evelyn - the same goes for you. If there is 'no signal', the box is telling you just that. And again, its normally down to a problem at your end.

K Toms: If you signal stength is low across the baord, you most likely have a problem at your end. There is no warning about low signal strength (which in any case would probably be above pre switch over levels anyway).
If your getting 27% on BBC, then its not surprising Drama has vanished - that mux is half the power of the BBC one.
You say your aerial appears ok, but has moved? is that a typo? Check the signal path back from the TV - could be as simple as a loose connection. But if it isn't, it sounds like you need to get someone out.

Elizabeth: I'm getting Al Jazeera HD on 108 and Arabic on 134, so I'd check that your signal is correct and your tuned into the right transmitter.

I agree that Freeview works well, and there is more than enough on for me not to bother with any extra provision.
However, there is no such thing as free. The BBC uses the licence fee, but commercial operators use adverts, and Gold etc use subscribers. The commercials you see are paid for by the people hoping you buy stuff, and even if you think your never influenced by adverts, your almost certainly still paying for them. The figure is something like 200 a year each.

Brianist: On a serious not, any coverage of whats going to be in the White paper and the possible reaction to it? I though Ian Jack's Guardian piece was pretty good, and more power to Gary Lineker!
