4K is one of those technologies where the tech and the price are forging ahead, but UK providers are still not sure. However, some stuff is coming along
Eutelsat launches Europe's first Ultra HD 4K TV channel , both via dish and via streaming.

Phil Clifford: If you put your postcode into this site (or just Digital Uk's site), you'll see that your just 23km from the transmitter, so its not surprising that your tuner is screaming - the signal is way too high.

Phil White: Looking at your position, your just 9km from the transmitter. Admittedly, someone else might suggest why your signal seems to have a problem at the same time each night (remember the source of interference might not be in your home), but if you look at the link I posted to Phil Cliffords question, it might help answer your question.

Jim: Indeed, local TV should be local! Actually, my reference was to the seeming general quality of the programme, but hopefully I'll be proved wrong.

Anna Doughty: Your 19km from Waltham, so its likely your signal is now too high - see here:

Joe: Might be an idea to check the recorder as well - just to make sure its picking up all your channels. On the other hand, it could just be a dodgy aerial lead.

Linda: Ok - when you disconnected the Youview box, and used an aerial lead directly to the TV, everything is fine. My first thought is that you have a dodgy aerial lead connecting the TV and the Youview box, which you've removed.
If you follow the normal instructions for a TV/PVR, it will say to take an aerial lead from the wall, and plug it into the back of the PVR, and then get another one to go from the other aerial port going out to the TV. This is called 'passing through', etc, and the signal goes via the Youview box to the TV. But if the second cable has come loose, is damaged, etc, it might not transfer a signal properly.
Try getting another aerial lead (something like the one for £3 plus P & P would be good http://www.aerialsandtv.c…tml) and try again. I suspect that simply getting another lead might solve the problem, but if nothing else, it will eliminate one possible cause.

George: A postcode would be helpful, as would an indication of what transmitter you are actually tuned into - you could be picking up a transmitter much further away, hence your problem.
On the other hand, dont dismiss the idea of a problem with your system. Trace back the signal, starting with the aerial lead, and just make sure that has not been a break, etc.

Mike : I did wonder about that, but since Linda said that certain channels had vanished, not all of them, I assumed that the RF loop might still be working.
Still, its an excellent point, and now that some of the newer Humax's dont have an RF loop (at least according to the tech support guys where I work), this is going to be more frequent problem. Hopefully Linda has checked to make sure that its still on.

Jim: ' most of North Nottinghamshire won't be able to receive their service' - I've seen 5 m inutes of it (its broadcast from Waltham, so I get it). Frankly, they are not missing much.
