I have been re tuning to digital in Yorkshire - the Emley moortransmitter. I cannot get any ITV or C4 stations. I rang Digital UK and they said that my TV (Tevion) was not on their list to help me, but to be fair, the lady tried to direct me through manual re tuning using a generic guide. This was unsuccessful, so she gave me some channel numbers to input, and said that I should contact Tevion to get them to guide me through. I did this, and they said that they would not help because, as the TV was purchased in 2007, it was out of warranty. I rang Digital UK back and they said that it makes no difference if the TV is in warranty or not, they should help me. I rang Tevion again and told them this. They replied that Digital UK should not have said this, and that they would not help me. I rang Digital UK and they said that Tevion should help me. It goes on and on and on...
We were told in the months leading up to the switchover that it would be a simple process, and it has proved to be anything but. I feel for all the older people who have sets which are digital ready, but out of warranty.
Did the government, or the BBC (who say that their job is to help facilitate the switchover) not check with all the TV manufacturers any potential problems? What do Aldi (Tevion stockists) have to say? Do they bear any responsibility?
Can OFCOM help? Why should I pay my licence if I don't get the full range of channels?
