As you have pointed out, local newspapers are falling by the wayside and although I have signed up for online content I also watch the BBC and ITV regional news. It's not very local (we have a local residents' society for that) but I feel that knowing what is happening within a 30-mile radius is pretty important, especially here on the South Coast with all the antisocial behaviour that has been happening recently.
Equally important is the local weather forecast! It's not exactly reliable, but the national one is useless.
