A friend of mine lives in a block of sheltered flats, and I was heavily involved in re-tuning the residents TV's during the London DSO earlier in the year (seeing as the landlord didn't provide any help at all), and now I am wondering if I will need to re-do them all again on the 19th Sept?

Or can I simply re-tune the residents who watch HD channels, seeing as these are the only ones that are moving that they might watch?

I thought there was supposed to be advertising of this, yet with just over a week to go,nothing has been said, so I am concerned that it will be a mass scramble on the Wednesday afternoon to make sure they can still watch TV, because as usual no-one thinks about these people and who has to do the re-tune (certainly not the Social Housing landlord!) They simply expect the residents to call the Helpline and follow their instructions to re-tune the TV's themselves.

And then if they resolve the issue with Sky then I presume another re-tune would also be needed, as the residents do watch the 24 hour news channels!

When I did the DSO, I could explain why it was required, and they did understand, but this is going to seem pointless to them, as they simply want to watch the few TV channels they like which are BBC, ITV and Channel 4, and I always have to delete the rubbish adult and dating ones, as well as the ones they can't receive as they kept asking me what they were and why nothing appeared when they selected that particular channel!

Sorry, rant over now!

Thanks Dave.

however I have since called the Digital TV helpline people who helped a lot of the residents when they did DSO, and they said that yes all freeview TV's and STB's, including Top UP TV and BT Vision boxes, will need to be retuned as they are also increasing the frequency as well as the channel number changes apparently, so unfortunately looks like I will be very busy on the 19th Sept!

I agree, why do they do these things, without thinking of the impact it will have, I know the scheme manager here is going to be inundated with queries as to why their TV has stopped working, and wont remember that they were advised in a newsletter earlier asking them if they need help to retune their equipment.

Also I notice that the Radio Times doesn't even mention this change, and simply amends the channel number for the channels that are changing (mainly hd)!

Why they can't advertise this change properly as they said they were going to do, as putting up on screen messages confuses a lot of people who don't understand what they mean!
