Thanks Mike for your reply (2 Nov). Most of the time I have perfect reception, 10 on the signal "quality". However during the poor reception periods the level goes to zero. The main BBC channels are not affected.
I thought you may have some idea if they were still working on individual multiplexes
Yes I do receive Wrekin signals quite strong, I can see the Wrekin but I prefer to use the Sutton transmiter direct

Getting excellent signal strength from Sutton Coldfield but on freeview I can't find ITV or BBC i players either on the TV or the Panasonic HDD recorder. both equipped with and connected to internet access.
However BBC i player is OK on Freesat reception.
Are they available on Freeview please?

Ade Holland:
Yes, it was great, we don't get enough jazz & big band music on TV. I have suggested several music programmes to BBC4 and they did put "Ella Fitzgerald in London" on.
They will move if we badger them.

A few days ago a friend rang me to say that there was no EPG on BBC 1 & 2. She was using a Humax PVR 1000T. Using another PVR 1000 I found the same problem at my house 8 miles from her house. All other channels appeared to be OK. Retuning did not cure the fault so I set it back to manufacturers state & then retuned it. It worked!.
Retuned my friend's PVR today and that also worked.
What could have caused just 2 channels to lose the EPG when those 2 channels were fine on all the other TVs & recorders in both houses?

Just to add to my Humax PVR problem My post code is ST15 0PQ and both houses use the Sutton Coldfield Transmitter

Thanks jb38 for your interesting comments. The point about not erasing previous channels is very relevent as when I retuned my set I had duplicate BBC 1 & 2 channels, one with & one without EPG. Resetting to manufacturers conditions erased all channels.

I'ts not what you see, it's the obnoxious noise that has invaded every tv programme.
MU-SICK for the want of a better description interferes with the pleasure of all news & documentaries and is so loud that it often drowns out the dialogue.
Being hard of hearing I have to listen using headphones which makes the siuation unbearable resulting in my abandoning a programme.
Comments from the broadcasters that I have contacted are that it adds "drama & atmosphere" What a load of rubbish

I love music and enjoy listening to big band & jazz.
When I switch to say, the news, I want to hear what is said. What possible excuse can there be to make the speech more difficult to hear by adding MUSICK.
Certainly there is enough drama in the stories without adding artificial effects Why is it always necessary to add MUSICK to the headlines. What is the cost of this addition?

Can you please tell me what is going on. After switch-over we were led to believe that signal strength would be fantastic.
But ITV and HD programmes are on and off almost on a nightly basis. Are they still working on the transmitters, have they given any indication when stability might set in?
I am asking you because you have been so helpful in the past
My post code ST15 0PQ and picking up signals direct from Sutton Coldfield
Thanks for any help.
