The owners of the channel, Fox Networks Group, have taken the business decision to close the channel. They suggest that some of the programmes can be viewed on the Fox Channel, but that's not carried on Freeview.

I should have added that Fox Channel isn't on Freesat either - in other words, it's only available on pay TV platforms.

Apart from paying to have the channel as part of a Sky or Virgin bundle or through an internet delivered service like Now TV, you're looking at pirated streams delivered over the internet through something like a Kodi box or the Mobdro mobile/tablet app. I'm not sure of the legality of such back-door viewing methods, and the chances are the site owners wouldn't welcome discussion of such things. Little is actually "free" as there's still the upfront cost of the Kodi, and mobile/tablet apps often force you to use the pay version of the app to be able to Chromecast the stream to the TV.
In terms of the cost using Sky and Virgin it would depend on what level of service you take. Sky's Now TV 'net delivered service is pitched at a much lower cost for people who do not want the full Monty and being a 'net service doesn't need the set top box and dish. Have a look at the Now TV app entertainment pack: Watch Movies, TV shows & Sports online instantly though at this time I don't think any of the streams are full HD.

No, sorry, I don't know of any crowd-sourced sites similar to this that list up to date information. That's not to say thay don't exist, though.

As a Freesat user I can confirm that both Blaze and Spotlight are still on the EPG and working OK. Neither have subtitles or Audio Description - they're just carrying the video and basic audio streams.

There was a disagreement between C4 and Freesat regarding how much Freesat were charging C4 for having the HD version of the channel on the Freesat EPG. Freesat's constitution specifically says that they have to treat all channels on a Fair, Reasonable and Non-Discriminatory manner (often shortened to FRAND). This means that Freesat can't discount EPG fees to broadcasters if, for example, they have lots of channels on the service and want a bulk discount or they want to negotiate on cost of EPG slots.
As a result, C4 decided that they would not pay the relatively small EPG payment (which could probably be covered by a couple of prime time advertising slots) and pulled both C4 HD and the All4 VOD service from Freesat. Pulling All4 as well was probably a toys-out-of-the-pram thing.
If you know how to you can tune in C4 HD in non-Freesat mode on:
11127, V, 22000, 5/6, DVB-S, QPSK.
