Hi. I live in Derby and have a Bush brand new freeview box. All was great until a couple of days ago. As most people I have lost channels. When I retune I get a choice of 2 receptions East Midlands or West Midland. East Mids is always reccomended...but. I have lost no end of channels. On the EPG the channels that say no information i.e BBC1 they have great reception and the ones on EPG that do have info have poor reception. So I can't record. I have tried both transmitters and have different problems with both. This only happened 2-3 days ago? I am about ready to throw box out of window. I have followed all advice to no avail. Changed aerial leads etc etc help!!!!

Thanks Chris. Turns out that after spending thirty quid on a tv/aerial expert to come out, that it is the Freeview box at fault and is confusing the signals from both transmitters. This was after I purchased gold tipped scarts numerous aerial cable and a booster!!!! Took back to Argos and they exchanged (after 30 day period) for a different make and model. Thanks for your advice anyway I am most grateful

Lauren: Try retuning without an aerial in. You should then get a blank EPG. Turn of TV put back aerial and retune again? I had a Bush freeview box and it had great problems finding the correct signal so I had to change. Hope this helps. Glenn

trudy: Hi. I had a Bush freeview and took it back. It was picking up to signals and was confusing the recording schedule? I now have a Humax and all ok

A question to KMJ Derby or anyone. I have just purchased my 3rd freeview box. The first a Bush was incompatable. The second Hitachi was brilliant but with a month the hard disc failed. I am now using a Humax. No problems exept it does not give you a choice of regions and has gone for W Midlands transmitter although E Midlands is the stronger I think? I have no prob with this as the local new can be watched in the 800 channel group. But why W Mids??? Cheers

Jb 38 Thank you for this. Why oh why do they make things so frustratingly difficult when everything was working great before the switchover...I think they call it progress!!

Just wondering if you do a manual tune on a humax freeview box if you can choose E Midlands or W midlands. It would seem that it has tuned to the W Mids which is further away and consequently ITV 1 is breaking up. However in the 800 region ITV1 is fine? Ideally I would like the E Midlands to run from 1 to 5 etc not from 800 is this possible? Thanks G

Ok I am a tad confused here. I have followed the great advice on this site but I am still in the land of frustration. Using my Humax Box I did a scan without the aerial. (I am trying to make E mid the predominant signal but the box insists on W Mid which is weaker) I then did a manual scan on Mux Ch54 which gave me every channel inc BBC?? These are now stored from 1 to whatever? So are these now E mid channels and how can i find out? I may throw the whole lot out of window soon as I set the recorder in the 800 BBC1 region for the apprentice and the timer came on but nothing was recorded.Grrr

Hi Dave. Bit techo for me mate. I did a scan with aerial out and then saved the zero channels. Then put aerial back in and manually set it to scan ch 54. This gave me every channel on the East Midlands inc BBC???? all at 81% signal. Mind you I have just got in from work and not switched on from last night so could be getting a signal from Hong Kong now.
