Firstly, your help is very much appreciated. I can now make decisions based on facts rather than guesswork.
Sky (with Sports) is going to cost me £480 p.a in my first year, and yep, you guessed it, Freesat will cost almost exactly the same in year 1 once I have paid for the installtion, freesat recorder boxes, dish, HD etc. After year 1 Freesat starts paying for itself, but poorer channel selection v. Sky - my choice to make though.
Does the switchover represent progress? For me, clearly not when I now have to fork out upwards of £500 from the kids college fund.
This is a national disgrace.
I would still be interested to know how this happened to me though - what physically occurred on Sun night/Mon morning for this to occur? Could the solar activity this week be playing its part...??
I can take the ultimate option and just forget TV altogether - in which case my darts will improve to the extent I'll win the PDC by the end of the year - only shame will be my family won't be able to watch the Sky coverage.

I live at AB23 8SY postcode, Balmedie. I have had off and on issues since switchover last year. At the moment, built in freeview box in my Panasonic Viera is giving very scrappy results on most channels (Mux 2 and A seem worst) - Mux 1 seems only good selection. Picture improves when I switch to watch via my old Thomson Top UP TV box. I see there was engineering work at Durris at the weekend but if that has now stopped I'm still getting poor results. My external roof mounted aerial is 2004 model (as are all the connectors etc) but I have the feeling that if I spend cash on upgrades I'll still get poor results - should I give up and just get Sky? All the usual factory resets, induction/mobile phone interference checks make no difference. Any thoughts please..?

Hi - I live in an AB23 postcode area and use freeview (both built into Panasonic TV and also via an old Setanta DTR) - there have been minor hiccups since Sept 2010, but generally all well. Little TV as well in kids room with old freeview box also.
Last Monday (14th)I came home from work to find I only had BBC1,2, ITV1, 4,5, Beeb3 and 4, Ch4+1 More 4, E4, STV+1 (where did that come from??), CBBC, Cbeebs - basically Mux A, C and D all gone - why??
Stock answer from DigitalTV is "it must be your aerial" (roof mounted, external)- I dont believe that for a moment since all was well on Sunday. Durris is having issues and noted re June 15th, but do I gamble on purchase of Freesat/Sky now and ditch Freeview, or wait it out until 15/6 and hope A, C and D come back? Problem is the same on all TVs in the house - neighbours cant help as all on Sky.
Usual factory reset of all boxes tried and failed.
I'm convinced Murdoch is behind all this, sitting in a hollowed out volcano like Dr Evil, and using his "laser" to randomly screw up Freeview signals around the country - then we all rush out and have to buy SKY.
On the upside, I can finish from 101 in 3 darts with my eyes shut now as i have so much time to practice!!!
Joking aside, any clues...?? Much appreciated and a great forum...
