As a reminder, acquired Virgin Media TV in June 2010 and brought to an end the Bravo channel on Sky as well as rebranding Virgin 1 to Channel One. In the new Sky EPG format of Sky 1, Sky 2 and shortly to be Pick TV (formally Sky 3), it has been promised that the most popular programmes on Channel One will be found a place on either of the Sky . viewers will have to wait to see if these programmes materialise on PICK TV and remain free to view.
Now you should question whether these TV companies keep their promise. When ITV brought Men & Motors to an end it was promised that ITV 4 would carry the most popular programmes on that . I have yet to witness ANY programme previouly shown on Men & Motors to be allocated a space on ITV 4. Quite frankly there are far too many channels already. Lets go back to the start of TV when it kicked off at 6.00pm and ended with the national anthem at 10.30pm. There is too much crap on TV already, that to go back to the 5 channels would be quite adequate entertainment.

Hey, sorry to spoil your thunder and cut across your bows. No doubt your recent comments are pointed at Rupert Murdock.

I suggest you both Yahoo or Google him before you write more, as you'll find that he is an Australian-American media magnate and the founder, Chairman, and CEO of News Corporation.

In addition, he currently has NO controlling interest in Broadcasting and as such is not responsible for what are shown and as far as I'm aware, is not responsible for what programmes are shown on all Sky channels.

As far as I am aware, Rupert Murdock's proposed 100% take-over of SKY TV has been referred to the Competition Commission, and knowing how the commisssion works, it may end up with Sky having to offload some of its channels to other competitors, so watch this space for other developements in the media world.

Additionally, although Sky acquired Virgin Media TV in June 2010 and made a commercial decision to cut from the those Virgin channels like Bravo and Virgin 1 (Channel one) that in the competetive world are dedicated the certain age groups, like Sky 1, Sky 2 and Sky 3 shortly to be rebranded(Pick TV),it is very interesting to learn (as I write this) that although Sky now own the Virgin TV network,Sky are not allowing Virgin to televise the new SKY Atlantic Channel.

It has been said by Sky chief operating officer Mike Darcey that cable TV customers are unlikely to get access to Sky Atlantic any time soon, as Virgin Media wants to get the channel "on the cheap".

I wonder where the men are in their "white coats" are hiding, as in this crazy world of ours, where is the commercial logic of the "parent company" (Virgin) of having to pay for something that your "Holding Company" (Sky)currently owns.

lol at my user name. Maybe Wolves will do the same to the Gunners this coming Saturday as they did to Man United last Saturday, as they did to Chelsea, Man City, Spurs and of course Liverpool. Such a crap team Wolves are that they only come good when they play top class opposition. I've always said from the 70's that when Wolves can play 90 minutes of football I'll support them again. I personally haven't watched a game since they beat Man City in the 74 League Cup Final.

Yes I do recall Murdock having to give up his Australian citizenship, or was it the case that in the States they have outlawed foreign ownership of companies there, hence the reason for duel nationality. Maybe we should have the same laws here, then that would put pay to Murdock being in the pocket of the current Government and others like him owning the TV companies and the media in general.

Hi

I you can shed some light on the following problem that has occurred following the first switch to the . I would also have reason that all those viewers still using the old ON and ITV Digital are suffering the same fate as myself.

Back in December 2000 I purchased the Toshiba 28WT98B DTV which was the first Digital TV produced by Toshiba, then found inside was a Philips tube. No problem there..although it hasn't really worked properly since Toshiba never wrote the software to pick up the text before ITV Digital went bump having out stretched themselves bidding to show live football. I guess we all remember the reasons behind that.

Following the first switch last Wednesday (7th) I find that although on BBC 2 went off the air on channel 40 as planned they have put ITV 1 on Channel 40, clearing the way for the 7 BBC channels to occupy Channel 43 on the Digital system.

Since I was able to receive all 105 digital channels prior to last Tuesday night, I can only receive 98 channels now with all the BBC channels blank.

Can you explain what has occurred since and does this mean that from the 2nd switch date on 21st September myself and those who have the older Digital TV and set top boxes won't be able to pick up any channel in the conventional way and will have to buy again either a set top box or DTR to be able to view any channel.
