First the planning- whoever decided to spread the digital channels so thinly to make room for masses of pornography and shopping channels? It would have been better to limit the channels to, say, 25 good ones that could be broadcast at a decent power level.
Then the communication- the whole business has not been explained at all well, and people have been encouraged to spend money unnecessarily on new aerials and equipment.

Why are some of the multiplexes transmitting on low power?is it to save electricity?

Well that's it, my freesat dish and box arrive monday. I'm tired of being messed around by freeview. Transmitter catches fire in summer and takes months to fix, now half the channels are broadcast at low power and i just find out that is linked to London switch over schedule.but i expect yet another excuse for poor receeption once that happens. Can't get Dave or Yesterday or USA on Freesat, but at least I KNOW I can't get them, rather than the 'some days yes some days no' situation with freeview.

So the transmitter status just now is 'no problem', at the same time as mux 2 rating is 'low'. That means BBC reception is fine, but ITV is rubbish unless you are prepared to buy new equipment. I'm just curious, is this deliberate policy to favour the BBC, or is the commercial sector just too greedy, trying to put out too many channels on one mux?
