Hello all.

I believe that I'm having an identical problem to Isla - a Goodmans set-top box and all BBC channels freezing randomly and remote unresponsive since the September 3rd retune.

All other chanels seem to be running fine, but after about three seconds (wherein I can change volume, access the guide etc) BBC channels screw up.

Generally I've started to 'soldier on', simply switching the box off and on at the wall to reboot, but frankly it's very frustrating.

I'm in central London and no amount of rescanning, first-time installations, or proscibed "Freeview reset procedures" have been able to fix it.

I've long heard that Goodmans boxes are poor but am concerned that if I invest in a decent new TV with integrated Freeview the problem will simply persist.

PS - I've checked which transmitter I'm recieving from under System Information and it says simply "London".

I'm not sure anybody can help, but any advice (or even just balm for the soul) would be most appreciated.

Thanks.

I have to say that I can make the BBC channels to work if I simply decide to watch that one channel.

For example, I love University Challenge and Only Connect so will tune into BBC2 just before 8pm and, barring any initial freezing (wherein I'll dis/re-connect the plug repeatedly until it stabilises) I'll simply watch that channel for an hour before un/re-connecting the plug again and changing to an unaffected channel.

Absurd I know, but it's amazing how I'll adapt to inconveniences like this.

God I'm stingy.

People here have been saying I shouldn't have to buy a new TV, and I do broadly concur, but the fact I'm watching a cruddy 15-year-old Matsui cathode-ray thing rescued from a skip should tell me something about my attitude to spending money (on anything other that fine wines) and where I'm going wrong.

*looks shifty*

Hmm, has some kind of pressure from the gathered, huddled, disgruntled masses paid off?

I wouldn't want to speak too soon, but as of last night, the BBC channels have been OK (i.e. no freezing and a fully responsive remote).

Fingers crossed.

Anybody else noticed a change?

It must be said incidentally that while the BBC channels and/or Goodmans s****ybox have been 'behaving themselves' the channels in question are a little glitchy, especially when changing to a different one.
