There are plenty of comments and suggestions already in this thread. Don't hold your breath waiting for any new ones with different advice.
Basically, if you think your aerial is old/in bad condition/not a wideband one and/or the downlead is bad, and you cannot wait until next June then think about a new aerial installation. Otherwise, wait and hope all will be well again when the power is boosted 900% next June.

jb38: JSTV (Japan Satellite TV) is based in London and rebroadcasts to UK and Europe a selection of programmes from Japanese TV networks. Has been doing this since analogue satellite days and is currently digital on Hotbird 12597 MHz. Also on some cable networks. Recently started IPTV to PCs and appears to be coming to Freeview 246 also via IP. Aimed at Japanese ex-pats willing to pay a relatively high monthly subscription. NHK news broadcasts are in the clear on Hotbird but almost everything else is encrypted. www.jstv.co.uk/english

Yes a bigger/better aerial will get a stronger signal but will the increase be enough? That depends on many, many factors which only an experienced person who can see your current installation can estimate. For example, is your existing aerial a wideband one, how many elements in it, is it in good condition, is it pointing in exactly the right direction, is the downlead in good condition, are there any splitters in circuit, is there a masthead amplifier, is there an amplifier behind the TV, how high is the aerial, anything close to it, what is between it and Sudbury, is your receiver above or below average sensitivity?
