If more capacity really is facilitated through a 'digital dividend' clearance of Ch31-37, let's hope that it won't simply lead to more junk channels or subscription channels.
No more shopping or so-called 'adult' soft porn channels should be permitted - and certainly no more payTV channels.
I thought the whole idea of clearing the 600 MHz band was to free it up for so-called 'mobile devices'.....???

Does anyone actually use this irritating 'Red Button' nonsense?
Teletext, while less pretty, was a heck of a sight easier to use. Germany still uses it on digital platforms.

You are absolutely right, Brian!
I used to find the old Ceefax news headline option quite useful, as was the ability to check TV programme times without leaving the programme I was watching. But that was about all...
The BBC still provide an excellent service in the main, although I still think that their DAB aspirations are very much pie-in-the-sky....

Ah yes, BSB! They treid to market themselves in a niche above the 'lager-and-The Sun' image which Sky had at the time. I was a 'launch Club' member, but had to wait ages until my Nokia system was finally delivered. Excellent picture quality (particularly on The Movie Channel), but only 5 channels, although there was some talk of the UK taking Eire's five channels.....until BSB 'merged' with Sky. Or rather, as Sam Chisholm told me during a phone call, 'went bust'.
So I stayed with Marcopolo until the bitter end, then went to Sky. But later Astra launches weren't compatible with my system, so then I changed to a motorised system which was good - several continental channels, for example.
Eventually I switched to Sky digital, but the number of 'junk' channels such as shopping and so-called 'adult' channels has ruined the quality.
I'm waiting until DSO and the future plans for Freeview before I decide whether or not to update from my 'classic' Sony VTU-S760 to an newer Sky system.
If Sony or Panasonic made a TV with a built-in Sky receiver (as they do for Freesat), I'd buy one tomorrow!
I still have my old BSB receiver and 'squarial' somewhere - for the fat lot of D-MAC it did me!

I had a look at the Panasonic S35 manual - the DVD player doesn't have any RF antenna sockets, let alone an RF modulator.

Unless, that is, you are watching Sky via an RF connection and the new DVB-T signal is on the same channel which you've used for the RF connection? Unlikely, I agree, but possible nevertheless?

55 ArqB 'Very good'
57 BBCB null points - but my digital TV isn't DVB-T2 compatible, so that's probably the reason.
59 ArqA 'Good'

Channels 55, 59 and 62 were unused in analogue days from Oxford, so if your Sky system used one of those channels for your RF feed, you will need to retune your Sky receiver output channel.
Go to 'Services' on the handset, then press 4 then 0 then 1, then press 'select' to view the installation menu. Choose option 4 (RF outlets), then choose the channel to which you wish to retune. Then scroll down to 'save new settings'.
I use Ch 22 for Sky, Ch 25 for VCR and Ch 28 for DVR - all work fine.

Here in east Witney, even with a pretty ancient UHF antenna system, I'm seeing 'Very Good' for all Oxford multiplexes - including Ch62.

Are these filters 'no loss' devices?
Where are they to be fitted - at the antenna or at the receiver?
Anyway, surely error correction will take care of most interference? I suspect this will turn out to be similar to the 'FM-immunity' nonsense which cost many aeronautical VHF users hundreds of pounds thanks to CAA regulations - but no-one has ever noticed ANY 'FM' interference!
