You have not apparently seen this fault so you say it doesn't exist, yet many have. So your explanation is that you are correct and every one else must have faulty aerials/equipment? Has it occurred to you that you've simply missed this effect that is irritating so many? Explain to us how one can be receiving a mux at good strength and 100% quality only for it to switch off like a light for one or two seconds, and then recover at full strength and quality immediately. Is that an aerial problem that you are familiar with, that affects one mux specifically? There is a fault with the signal from Com7 WH for certain areas and sticking your head in the sand won't help those of us who are getting fed up with it.

MikeB: I never said anything about 100% signal level: I said the postcode checker gave the area as a good signal area (100%). My actual aerial signal is around 75% although that's arbitrary as all brands measure it differently . However it would be interesting to have explained to me how a half-power mux is causing overload when all the full-power muxes are received with absolutely no trouble?

I've changed my monika from "Mike" to "Mike42" to avoid confusion with the others. I was one of the early complainers about this problem, which is still very apparent here on the Fylde coast. I record quite a few programmes on BBC4HD and it is now quite rare to have a clear recording. Almost every file has a "failed recording due to signal loss" flag, although the Humax does actually complete the recording with the glitches included. The second episode about Quantum Mechanics had four glitches in the hour which was very irritating.
As others have stated, observing the signal meters during a glitch shows a complete switch-off of signal and quality, followed by complete recovery and perfectly good signal/quality for several minutes: the timing appears to be random .

H J Hill: I have been seeing this intermittent drop out for months on Com7 . I sent a complaint to DigitalUK about two months ago and Arquiva told them they were fixing it. I never saw any improvement at all and it is still happening, on two completely independent aerial systems (one a Log40, the other a medium gain Yagi) and two different receivers. My postcode check gives all muxes 100% in the green.
I have re-submitted a complaint to DigitalUK, and Arquiva have asked for contact details of those affected.
Most of the recordings I make on BBC4HD have a loss-of-signal flag against them because the glitch happens randomly at between two and four times an hour, but luckily the Humax's still record, glitch included.
The original fault was reported from viewers in Manchester, Macclesfield, Preston, Blackpool and others. So not local spot problems, and it's been going on for too long.
