John Gray:

Well that's the right approach using a Group A high gain for Rowridge, and very often the VP transmissions are better in some places. But without a full postcode it's not possible to give some proper constructive advise. The Freeview Detailed Coverage checker doesn't work on partial postcodes or place names, and coverage around the location that you are likely to be in can be very variable.

David;

Neither Freeview pages or the BBC are reporting any problems with the transmitter at Haslemere, nor know of any in the last 5 days, so it would seem they are not aware of any issues.

I suggest you all report the problem to Freeview on 0808-100-0288 (office hours) also the the BBC via the RTIS see Contact Us | RTIS and FreeviewAdvice on Twitter @FreeviewAdvice

Further to the above, I've tried to progress this a bit via the BBC RTIS but they will generally only deal with individuals like yourselves, so you must contact them to ensure this is definitely progress. Whether Arqiva will get alerted as a result of my effort is unknown.

Brian:

I can't find any reports of transmitter problems, either on the Rosemarkie page here, Freeview or the BBC.
I suppose that there might have been a service interruption that hasn't yet been reported. Have you got your signals back?
There's no Planned Engineering listed for Rosemarkie, nor is it part of any retune.

David Williams:

Is this occurring on different radio stations? If so, it's likely to be some form of local interference. If it's about 1 click every two/three seconds or so, it could be an electric fence unit if you are in a rural location.

Winter Hill (Bolton, England) transmitter

Gary Malliber:

The site owner has been unable to keep up with all the 700MHz clearance changes and as has been said many times on this and other transmitter boards, the best place to look is the official listings on the Freeview site (now that the digitalUK site has been merged into it).

Goto Freeview | All your favourite TV shows, all in one place and all for free and scroll to the box "Check Freeview at my home", put in the postcode and house number/name and click "Check".

On the new page, amongst other things, you should see a mention of any Planned work Freeview | All your favourite TV shows, all in one place and all for free corporate/platform-management/planned-engineering-works
also whether there's any current transmitter issues - I've not always found the latter to be 100% reliable.

On this new page, scroll down just over half way and click "Detailed view".
You'll now see a list of any transmitters and their multiplexes that are predicted to be received at your location. You can hover over some of the information to get more detail/explanation, eg. hover over a channel number will give the transmission mode and the power in kW.

For which channels are on which multiplex see Channel listings | Freeview
Freeview | All your favourite TV shows, all in one place and all for free service-updates is a page worth keeping an eye on.

D Humphrey:

It's unlikely, but to see the predicted coverage at your location, a full postcode is needed as the Freeview Detailed Coverage Checker does not work on place names or partial postcodes.

Thanks for the update.
I've been chasing FreeviewAdvice who now claim they will take a look!
