ARGH! Thought I experienced a brief appearance yesterday when reading a post but it never happened again ..... but NOW just had it when re-reading this thread.
ADS appearing (twice) in the middle of the post - wherever there was a carriage return I think!
It makes reading a post almost impossible when there is complex technical content in the post.
Brian, is there anything you can do to stop them appearing part-way through posts like this? At the start or end would be acceptable, but not in the middle.

Short answer, yes there are plans but I've not heard of definitive timescales for everything and at present it seems it's only likely to happen on recent Freeview Play devices, it's suggested only those that have CLM - channel list management.

It will of course be only some (more recent) "smart" devices.
There's several subscription services.
A recent model of BT box has streamed channels available (no aerial needed I believe), quite a few in HD (where they are only SD on Freeview via an aerial), but that is exclusive to BT. There's also Sky Glass, but again exclusive to Sky. Sky also offer a paid App.
But also today, the BBC have released this -

Some of the Broadcasters' Apps already offer "Live" streaming (it's actually delayed slightly - (upto a minute?) eg. iPlayer, ITVX, My5
A lot of that streaming is in HD but iPlayer is more restricted to listed sets -

You are correct that the Midhurst transmitter is only 5km away according to the Freeview predictor and is at compass bearing 24 degrees with its rods (or squashed Xs) horizontal - that's 24 degrees E of due N (or ~NNE). You should have no trouble receiving it at all.
Try positioning the aerial so that it is not pointing through thick walls, water tanks, lead flashing (or other metal), solar panels etc.
You should ideally use a Group K aerial although a Group T / Wideband would do but these latter two leave you more vulnerable to mobile interference should a new/updated mast using 700MHz appear close by and you'd then need a filter (which would be free from http://restoretv.uk).
I'd suggest that you clear your TV of all previous tuning as Hannington is the only other transmitter that appears in the BBC predictions (and that's very variable to poor), certainly not the two you mention.
In the multiplex order BBCA/PSB1, D3&4/PSB2, BBCB HD/PSB3, SDN/COM4, ArqA/COM5, ArqB/COM6
The correct UHF channels for Midhurst are - C48, C35, C36, C29, C34, C33

Which stations are you having a problem with?
I can't find any fault reports for several of the transmitters which you may get BBC stations from, and according to the predictions you should get good reception of all the main Commercial and BBC multiplexes.
Have you got any new electrical equipment (including lighting) since this started?
Any changes to things like fridges/freezers or other large metal objects near the radio?

If you clear all previous tuning, which should work by unplugging the aerial and doing an automatic tune - no channels found, then plug the aerial back in and manual tune those UHF channels it won't matter what it would/does show, you'll know you are tuned to Midhurst.
Sometimes what's displayed on automatic tunes depends on make/model.

Hi Darren. The Chatton transmitter is currently listed for Planned Engineering with Possible effect on TV reception week commencing 24/07/2023 Pixelation or flickering on some or all channels.
It's most probable that this could be the cause of your issue, especially if they are running on reduced power or reserve antenna.
The problem might be made worse if your normal reception of the SDN Multiplex which carries those channel;s you've mentioned, is not as good as some of the others but we'd need a full postcode to check that. The reception predictors don't work on partial postcodes and reception can be very variable across such a large area due to terrain fluctuations.

Hi. Reception of the COM multiplexes (SDN, ArqA, ArqB) can vary across your postcode and is generally not as good as the PSBs (BBCA, D3&4, BBCB) although ArqA & B seem to suffer a bit more depending on precise location. Predictors can't take account of very local things like trees and adjacent buildings which might make your reception of the SDN mux a bit more variable.

It's most likely that the engineering is the cause of your issue with signal propagation conditions changing slightly just after sunset.
However, it's always worth giving you aerial system a checkout. Check that your coax connections/plugs are clean with no corrosion and properly plugged in. Check that the downlead isn't deteriorated (brittleness and cracks on the sheath). Also check that the aerial looks intact and is pointing correctly which should be at compass bearing 344 degrees for Chatton with its rods (or squashed Xs) horizontal.
Check in your TV Tuning section that you are correctly tuned to Chatton's UHF channels as your location is predicted to receive 3 other main transmitters and you might be inadvertently incorrectly tuned if you retuned at an inappropriate time when signals were poor or missing.
In the multiplex order BBCA/PSB1, D3&4/PSB2, BBCB HD/PSB3, SDN/COM4, ArqA/COM5, ArqB/COM6
The correct UHF channels for Chatton are - C41, C44, C47, C29, C31, C37

Your list of TV Mast locations refers (correctly) to Preseli aka Presely.
It would be nice if the url for both Presely & Preseli goes to Preseli (Pembrokeshire, Wales) Full Freeview transmitter | free and easy for 21 years
