Rodney Deacon:

Hi Rodney. Just to be clear, do you mean the Yesterday TV channel at LCN27 in your EPG or a multiplex UHF channel? I'm guessing your mean the TV channel.

Yes you need to look in the TV Tuning section for Signal Strength and Quality (or Error/BER) figures for each multiplexes' UHF channel.
Check for each transmitter, write them down and then post the figures against each UHF channel. We can't judge whether it's too strong or weak without that.
A full postcode would be helpful to look at your predicted reception (can't check on partial postcodes - but I'm guessing you may be somewhere in BS10 or highish up in BS7).

NS:

Those postions/names are correct according to the official OFCOM document I've just looked at (apart from a very very tiny error in the number of seconds longitude).
There's probably some historical reason why they are named this way round.
Ah, as I write I've found that "Pontardawe" was the original IBA site that transmitted analogue signals and was opened on 26th September 1975.
The Alltwen transmitter built by the BBC & IBA entered service on the 10th March 1989 according to a BBC document. The radiation pattern and area it's intended to cover probably has significance in the naming.

Anthony McNally:

I've not heard any other reports of this, have you tried a retune? But as I don't' have one of these I don't know if that affects any previous recordings you may have.
If no-one else posts any useful hints, you could try SUPPORT | HUMAX-United Kingdom if you don't have any luck solving this.

As you still haven't provided that full postcode as mentioned in reply to your December post, we can't check the predicted reception in your locale. As you mentioned you hadn't received the HD channels before, you could be in a marginal area, or have a fault on your aerial system.

Have you checked your aerial position as suggested? How old is the aerial installation?
Do you have any other equipment connected or aerial amplifiers/distribution amps/splitters or DVRs etc.?

Check you are tuned to the correct UHF channels for North Bovey - C46, C43 & C39.
Have you checked all the connections behind your TV etc?
When did this problem start - had you had any new electrical/electronic equipment around that time?

June Thomas:

The report immediately prior to your post will be confusing because it actually refers to the original main transmitter mast.

The current temporary Bilsdale Tower is seperate.
Freeview are reporting "There are currently live outages in your area."
And the BBC have reported -
From 12:06am on 11th Jan 2023 BBC A Off the air due to essential engineering

It's possible that more multiplexes other than the BBCA multiplex (the main BBC SD channels) may be off-air depending on the nature of the engineering. This is obviously urgent unplanned engineering and I would expect signals to return as soon as they can complete the work. Do NOT retune, it will most likely just clear your correct tuning and you'll have to repeat it then when signals are back -and you won't be certain when that'll be!

If you have a smart TV and a reasonable internet connection, try the streaming services. A lot give the ability to watch live TV as well as on-demand programmes.

Just for the record, the BBC reported it was back on air at 12:45am on 11th.

D Hill:

Hi. I have heard of this before, but at the moment I can't recall, when (not so long ago) or where or what the solution (if any) was.
I'll see what I can discover and post back.

Peter:

How are you receiving DAB - on a portable set or a tuner using an external aerial. If the latter have yoiu checked your aerial is still intact (and pointing correctly if directional)?
If it's a portable set, try a full reset and retuine.
If you are near Exeter, none of the transmitters you may receive (Exeter, Beacon Hill or Stockland Hill) are reporting any faults in the last 5 days.
If you are not near Exeter, please provide a full postcode.

Clive Brook:

The BBC reported a fault the other day -
From 11:06am to 11:25am on 11th Jan 2023 BBC B HD Slightly reduced power due to a fault

That should obviously have been fixed, so unless it's re-occurred and not yet been reported, probably best just to check your coax plug connections etc. and that your aerial is still intact and pointing correctly.

Tim Hayes:

If you had signals for BBC1 & BBC2, you should also have had BBC News LCN231, Parliament LCN232, CBBC & Cbeebies 201 & 202, as well as Radio stations on LCNs 700-710. If you weren't getting those as well, apart from the possibility of a problem with the transmitter or the feed to it (none have been reported), it could be your set has a problem with memory or tuning. Had you retuned when this problem with ITV etc occurred?

It's never advised to retune when you have no signal or badly pixellated pictures as this usually just clears your correct tuning. If you did this when you lost ITV, C4 and C5 etc (all PSB2) then it might be best to do a full retune.
Unplug the aerial and do an automatic retune. This should clear all existing tuning and memory as no signal should be found. Plug the aerial back in and repeat the automatic retune. Hopefully all the channels will be restored in their correct LCNs.

If you are still missing channels check that your aerial looks intact and is still pointing correctly (rods should be vertical for Peebles), also check all your coax connections in case something is not plugged in correctly. Bad connections etc can sometimes only affect one multiplex.

Does your set have an HD/T2 tuner? If so, are you getting the HD channels on 101-106/108 & 204/205. If you aren't check with neighbours to see if they have the same issue.
