Richard Sutton:

To add to my last comment, devices with an RF Output might include an old Sky Box.

Your most likely Transmitter for your postcode is indeed correctly Ridge Hill. It's possible that during the 700MHz Clearance programme changes elsewhere may have temporarily affected that prediction but it's more likely to have been some sort of temporary gremlin in the system - on occasion they still exist elsewhere for other transmitters, the predicted reception figure make it obvious that the "most likely" transmitter is incorrect.

Now I note from some of your previous posts, that you've got (not explicitly stated) an amp/splitter in the loft. What make & model is it? Does it have a variable gain control?
I assume such a device is connected to a mains power connection in the loft?

Does it have coax plug connections or does it have F-connector connections?

If Coax, do you have a straight coupler similar to
Close

If F-connector, do you have a straight coupler similar to
Close

With the information we can then proceed with some checks to eliminate some of the potential problems.

Robert :

AFAIK they don't have a catch=up service like iPlayer, ITVX, All4, My5 etc.
There's a limited "watch again" mainly previous news via their website.

I'm sorry your post is too vague to understand exactly what you mean. I think you mean you just moved into a premises and don't have a Freeview signal and you are somewhere near Dufftown which is roughly south of the Knockmore transmitter.
Coverage from the Knockmore Transmitter can be patchy depending on your exact location for which we need a FULL postcode. Reception predictors do not work on partial codes or place names.
Do the premises have a TV aerial?

Kevin:

Yes that is bizarre as they are obviously carried on the same multiplex!

Henry Porcher:

A full postcode so predicted reception can be checked would be a good idea. You need to check you haven't already got too strong a signal if you are not going to use a professional installer that has all the correct equipment for measuring signal strength and ideally a spectrum analyser in case there's odd things going on. Your location might be one where there'd need to be some compromise as some multiplexes may not be receivable as well as others.
You haven't given any indication of which transmitter you use, there's a few on Planned Engineering which might be affecting you.

It seems that Richard's reception oddities will continue to be a mystery, maybe for another 3 1/2 years!

It is true, the reason it is doing that on Freesat is because the plan is to close the SD channels next year. There is no plan to do that on Freeview so the slate is being retired on Freeview/Youview as it says.

David:

Can't find any reported faults for the Dover transmitter and it's not listed for Planned Engineering at this time.
Have your channels returned?
It could be/have been current weather conditions causing interference from distant transmitter in Europe or the UK. Do NOT retune as this may just clear your correct tuning.

Thomas Healey :

The Millburn Muir transmitter is only a Freeview "Light" transmitter and does not have the commercial multiplexes. You may be/have been tuned to another main transmitter and weather conditions may have allowed reception of those signals which may be weaker.

See Channel listings for Industry Professionals | Freeview for which TV channels are carried on which multiplex.

However, if you provide a full postcode we can check your predicted reception which may show whether you can get reliable signals from a main transmitter.
Which way is your aerial pointing (rough compass direction) and are its rods (or squashed Xs) vertical or horizontal?
