I live on the Surrey/Sussex border and having experienced the same recent signal drop-out problems as everyone else else in this strand, decided to ring Freeview direct - except you cant as they supply no number. Eventually I got through to a nice lady in ITV customer services who advised that anyone whose aerial picks up from the Hanningtontransmitter will have a spectacularly weak signal indeed until Feb 8, when Hannington is boosted. The signal weakened a couple of weeks ago for unexplained reasons but connected with the first phase of switchover. So all the retuning in the world won't make a difference if you rely on a basic Freeview box. Annoying for those looking forward to Xmas viewing but at least a cogent answer - and let's see if anything really does happen on February 8th....
