Hassan Asmal:

What equipment are you using and what is your location, giving a full post code helps.

David Mansell:

There is essentiual engineering work being carried out on the Todmorden transmitters. The equipment used is very reliable but does need regular maintenance, just like your car. They also need to add facilities and to do that they either reduce the power output or turn it off altogether for a short while - in the interests of the health of the engineers doing the work.

Alan:

Further to that said by Richard Cooper, you should also consider using a log-periodic aerial as that will cover all the possible services for the forseeable future, a Group C/D may not fully cover developments in the future.

Full technical details of Freeview

Alex:

Further to that said by Richard, not that an HD0Ready TV set alone does not have an HD tuner, so you would need, as Richard suggests, the HD Ready TV plus an HD capable set top box. Or have a Full HD TV set.

Philip Cooke:

The most common reason for this type of problem is having a TV set that does not have an HD tuner. I know some Sony sets do not have such and some do, so we would need to know the precise models numbers of each of the sets to determine if they are really capable of receiving and displaying HD programmes.

David Mansell:

If you look above your and my posting for an entry timed at 11.32 on Monday, you will see a posting about engineering work at Todmorden transmitter. Before that, an 08.32 entry also states there is work. Further, another entry today at 08.32 again states there was a problem between 17.49 and 17.55 on Monday!

That's how we know there is work beimng done. The information comes from the organisation responsible for the maintenance. DigitalUK get their information later so may not be aware yet of the work.

pick

J:

I suggest you ask Pick themselves using the Pick website link above (or Sky TV & Broadband | News, Sports, Movies & Entertainment and navigating to the Pick section). Only they know why things are apparently that way.

This website has no connection with any broadcaster and is intended mainly to assist with reception issues and queries.

Jenny:

Just a little note to say that what your will be able to watch is Freesat and is not Freeview. The test suggested by jb38 is an excellent way of finding out what channels you will get. Remember to switch the box off and unplug the mains from the wall socket afterwards, re-insert the viewing card and then put the mains plug back in and switch everything back on again to return to 'normal' until your subscription ceases.

Time for the BBC to release the DOGs?
Tuesday 14 June 2016 1:48PM

I presume by using the 'DOGS' you are meaning the station identification logo (SIL) often shown at various times durimng the broadcast. Some channels display such all the time they are running programmes, some show them even during adverts, others show them part of the time. I find such SILs useful occasionally.

Terry:

May I suggest that you perform a complete shutdown of your Sky box, by turning it off with the remote control (so even the faint green light goers out) and then unplug the mains lead either from the wall socket or from the back of the Sky box. Wait at least 2 minutes, then put the mains plug back in again and wait a further 5 minutes. That is tio allow the box to reset it's memory of available channels. After that turn everything back on and check what channels you are getting, programme 101 should be your local BBC1 service.

Let us know if that resolves the problem, please?
