Chrissy - You are unlikely to get digital where you are without a roof aerial. Do you get analogue OK?

Maggie - You mean you have to scan every time you turn on? Does not fit how the kit works. It keeps aware of channels even if no current signal.

Without your postcode can't say more.

john - do you actually HAVE an HD TUNER? HD READY TV means a high definition monitor, but may only have a SD TUNER built in as HD standard only recently set. You may need an HD Tuner box.

S - Unlikely that a box will work any better. If other tenants same problem you need to gang up on the landlord - or just share the cost yourselves. If you can see the transmitter you may do OK woth an aerial pointingf through the window,. Need your postcoide to comment.

I don't think £120 is unreasonable for an external aerial in that London.

Neil - move the TVs around to find out if it is the TVs or the aerial feeds.

<< The basic information I really need is can all freview programs be received by one aerial? (e.g. a group A aerial) >>

YES - provided that the aerial is of a group suited to receive whichever frequencies (broadcast channels) are used for all the Multiplexes in your area (A for you)

Traditional TV Channel numbers no longer have any link to broadcast channels.

Kevin - as to why specific channels; they are probably the ones that are weaker, or less well taken up by the aerial, or it could be that the dampness is creating partial short circuits that have more impact at one frequency than another.

If you do a retune; channel selection; it will find whatever you can receive.

Perfectly feasible that rain on roof would have an effect, as it makes the roof more electrically conducctive so blocks radio signals better.

You have a strong signal so unless locally blocked a roof ae should work fine. Get a local fitter to promise that no work no fee.
