Well, they're a bit remote up there - probably too remote for rip-off merchants and locals trade by reputation.
I have wondered if installers were travelling around the switchovers? Presumably each creates a demand surge?
I also wonder how much was spent on new Ae for the transition period when the old ones would have been good enough once full digital power.
I had no intention of replacing our VERY old Ae until a major storm realigned it. And even miser me was convinced that it was not worth refixing!

Tom F - the things that line a chimney are called "flue liners" !!
But surely you should not be drilling all the way through the brick anyway?

Both satellite systems? Each with its own lead to an LNB?
And both used to have 5/5US/5* and both have lost them?
But everything elsre OK?
Odd.

Triode - so long since I have seen that written down that it looks odd!
What Mike is being too delicate to say is
Does your son actually have an HD Box, or a TV with an HV TUNER, because "HD Ready" usually does NOT mean "can receive HD" just "got enough definition for HD".
NOT the TV makers' fault - they can't include tuners until standards are agreed.

MoP - All your signals are on the weak side, so your reception is probably very sensitive to changes in "propagation" conditions.

MoP - Some devices are a little more sensitive than others.
Dunno about your local timings issue, but presumably they intend change to be improvement. Check the pages for your local transmitters. You may do better with different ones.

Brian - Can she not record on the VCR by plugging the output from a TV or a Freeview tuner into the video's SCART ?

The Switchover Help Scheme can help you make the switch to digital TV. | Switchover Help Scheme
Brian - I am entirely convinced that a PVR (whch I presume is what a Freeview+ box is) is better than a VCR. But if a VCR is all you have got.....
Freeview tuners are cheap so you can have one for the VCR and another for the TV.

Mazbar - that is NOT what I am talking about. My ae is fixed to a substantial length of bracket bolted into drilled bricks, not mortar, at either end.
And the bricks are held in place by many tons of brickwork above them.
