Below are all of Stephen Phillips's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.JF - it seems to be standard that first BBC1 analogue moves to the BBC2analogue channel then the BBC1 frequency is used for digital, then a couple of weeks later all move.
IIUC this is to force people to recognise what is happening, without having thousands all entirely TVless at once.

Phil T - Can you tell which tx is at 5 and which at 804? Some boxes show channel used; others don't. Does the one at 804 have the news you want.
Nice town, Haddington. Had a friend lived nearby. East Linton.

Brian - your quote (extract follows) is not a rebuttal at all. It agrees with the statistic, but objects that it includes multi function devices.
So what. It is if anything worse to make a multi-function devide obsolete than a dedicated one. I USE many of the devices quoted. I want to carry on using them. Most of them will outlive me.
Your link also points out that DAB "reach" is NOT the 26% often quoted, but only 16%.
By all means let those who want DAB have it. But let those of us who do not, not bother.
HANDS OFF FM.
QUOTE FROM LINK
<< 8.5 million radios were bought last year in the UK but only 22% had a DAB tuner. Why dont listeners want DAB radio? Why are 78% of people who go and buy a new radio opting for just FM and AM coverage?
In fact, Ofcom calls them radio devices, for a very good reason: theyre not all primarily bought as radios. Theyre quoting GFK figures, who define these radio devices (fig 7) as portable radios, personal media players, car audio systems, home audio systems, clock radios, radio recorders, headphone stereos, tuners and receivers. Its difficult to argue that the primary purpose of an iPod Nano, which has an FM radio in it, is as a radio: or, for that matter, a car. Radios ubiquity in new devices means that you see a lot of devices having radio inside. >>

Do you point your ae north or south?
A proper outdoor ae would almost certainly help - but may not be needed in the long run

Alvin - I am all in favour of letting those who want to use new technology do so.
Just so long as it is not at the expense of those who want to carry on using existing technology - and equipment.

Is there any way of locating oneself in that list? I am at LL14 5HD - in Wales by 100 yards - but I can't tell which I fit into. Shresbury/Chester/Bangor?

If this page is a response to my request, it's astonishingly quick! Thanks either way.
Though I do not much like the information. 5 miles north of Oswestry we seem to be in the Liverpool "local" TV area!
In no way are Liverpool and NE Wales a common locality. We don't even speak the same language - Scouse is poorly understood here.
Are these areas fixed, or can they be challenged/changed?

Fuad - others know more, but I doubt there will be much change.
