Might be the cold weather?

(getting coat)

More seriously, they might be moving equipment, cabling, aerials, etc. though they should be reporting low power if applicable. Have a look at the page of rthe Oxford Tx, which will show any announcements due to Brian's many links!

michelle: I'm confused too, but thought you should know someone saw your question!

By "Magic Eye" I presume you mean something that commands a skybox elsewhere from the bedroom. I presume there is some box that connects the eye to the coax?

Can't understand how bedroom TV would STOP a remote working. As Sky?

Source of all wisdom on amps and splitters

Television Aerial Boosters / Amplifiers, Splitters, Diplexers & Triplexers

bob - need to know your signal strength to be sure - put postcode into Television Aerial Boosters / Amplifiers, Splitters, Diplexers & Triplexers

As you clearly have been managing an unamplified 4 way split you may still be able to, but 4 way is generally pushing it for unpowered. Best to have any amp up at the splitter.

NB to use new type connectors not old coax plugs (assuming your old coax suitable!)

Mazbar - The link at top does have a few UK 5v amps. Should he get one or power externally?

I meant to say "Ask Sky?" !

Magic Eyes can be very tricky - I had trouble getting one to work with a particular remote, but forget the detail.

The gain should be adjustable - but need your postcode to know what you are starting with.

Or plug it in HERE - sorry last link wrong!

I suggest you try connecting the ae to a single downlead and see what that does for you.

Geoff - Brian is a bit fundamentalist about the (undoubted) superiority of rooftop aerials; but depending on location and what the roof is made of and direction to transmitter youu MAY be OK with a loft aerial - or even a set top.

What do you use for analogue? Have you tried it for digital?

What do others nearby use?

bob p - are you using lark stoke or sutton c? (antenna vertical east or horizontal north)

Either way, you will probably find the signal OK powering one set (try it) but pushing it powering four.

That said, passive splitters are cheap enough to give it a go.

If you need a powered one it will make no (or at least little) difference how many outputs you use, and be sure to get one with adjustable gain. And 5v not 12v if you want to use your set power. I cannot reccomend which - maybe others more experienced will - or the people at the link above.

NB You old coax MIGHT be a problem, but unless easily replaced assume not!

Do you have wall sockets etc.? Best not to, but if you have you have. But they may or may not transmit the 5v DC up the coax.

bob p - if you have mains readily available it gives less scope for hassle.

But you could use a "mast head amp" - they do not have to be on masts!

So would you suggest that she switches the leads from the dish round?

Which will either switch the problem from recorded to live, or if lucky cure it if it was a corroded/dirty contact?

Matt - Brian is certainly amazing, but I'm pretty sure the scaling feature comes with the mapping software!
