It would also be of assistance if you provided the model number of the Panasonic involved.

Derek: I am not quite clear about what you are meaning by stating a "fully subscribed and active wall mounted dish", as the subscription is paid for by the owner of the box and with the charges being dependant on the package subscribed to.
However if you purchase a second hand Sky+ HD box you will only be able to use the recording side of the device if a £10.00 per month subscription is taken out with Sky other wise the box will just operate like a standard version, although you will still be view the most of (but not all of) the free channels you referred to as well as BBC1 HD, BBC HD, ITV1 HD, Luxe HD, C4 HD, however Five HD currently requires a Sky Freesat Viewing Card, this latter info being from Sky.
The reason for stating "most of" being that Freeview has a few odd channels that are not broadcast on either Freesat or Sky, and of course vice-versa.

Nick: When you say that you find you have lost all of the BBC channels, are you meaning that although they are still seen listed in the EPG listings when one is selected it results in a blank screen, or is it the case that they have disappeared from the EPG listings?

Ian: Well although I cant disagree with anyone using Freesat (not necessarily Sky's version) for purposes of obtaining reliable reception for 99.9% of the time, you have to also appreciate that you are only predicted to have a variable to poor level of reception from the Waltham transmitter because of your location, Sutton Coldfield giving a 100% rating for PSB channels and not far off 100% for the commercial multiplexes.

Sunil R: Yes! you can check what you will be able to view by simply removing your card and having a look through the programme listings of the channels that you normally view.
Sky only disables your ability to view channels dedicated to a Sky package, plus of course the recording / playback side of your box should you be using a Sky+ type.

Arthur: As soon as you cancel your subscription to Sky they will disable your access to the recording and play back side of the box at around the same as your ability to view Sky package channels, this done via a download into your card.
If though you wish to retain these recording / playback facilities you can take out (at the same time as cancellation) a £10.25 per month subscription that will allow you to use these facilities as before, but ONLY these facilities and not package channels.
As far as free and HD channels are concerned, you will still be able to view the undermentioned HD channels as well as all free ones, but I would mention the aspect of Ch5 HD when you are talking to Sky just in case they have changed anything.
BBC1 HD, BBC HD, ITV1 HD, Luxe HD, C4 HD, however Five HD currently requires a Sky Freesat Viewing Card.
If though you want to give up sky altogether then the dish and cabling is 100% compatible with Freesat devices.

Tricia: Only useless unless you take a £10.25p per month subscription out with Sky to enable you to use the recording / playback side of your box as you will still be able to view all free channels as before, you can check what you will be able to view by temporarily removing your card.
By the way your dish / cabling is 100% compatible with Freesat, Freeview is received via a normal loft or roof mounted aerial dependant on where you are located.

m stevens: Basically because your local (very) Newton Abbot transmitter is a PSB only station that does not transmit commercial programmes.
On looking at the channels used by Newton Abbot as well as the main station Beacon Hill it appears as though you might have to use manual tuning to receive the commercials from the latter mentioned, and so go into your TV or boxes tuning menu / manual tune then enter and scan Ch42, storing the results, use the same procedure again but on Ch45, storing the results, finally as before but on Ch51 likewise storing the results.
After having done that have a look at the EPG listing's and the commercials should have returned, Ch42 / Ch45 / Ch51 being the three commercial muxes from Beacon Hill.

This is something that is not entirely unexpected, as this site is in no way whatsoever connected to Pick TV and only provides info on how to receive it across the various viewing platforms it uses.
