Caroline Kay: Another somewhat less complex procedure which can sometimes bring about the desired result, is to remove the aerial connector from the TV followed by carrying out a retune, this action blanking out everything stored in the tuner, reconnecting the aerial on completion of the retune and ensuring that "no signal" is indicated if any attempt is made to select a channel, (which is correct!) the final stage being to carry out a normal auto-tune.

MikeP: Well although Trevor is limited to reception from the Malborough PSB only transmitter, he should at least be able to enjoy HD reception from Malborough's HD service on C22.

Daphne Duncansonyahoo.co.uk: Really (17) is broadcast on the COM5 / ArqA transmitter as is Pick TV (11) and Dave (12), if you are also unable to receive any of the latter mentioned? then you are not receiving the COM5 transmitter.

However, further advice is not possible unless your post code is known, or at least one from a nearby shop / post office, as this would enable access to info relating to the transmitter that covers your area.

By the way, reception of COM5 is not possible if you reside in a Freeview light area, although a post code would indicate if this applies to your location or not, unable to receive ITV3 being another indication.

ann: Try disconnecting the box from the mains supply "after" having placed it in standby for a minute before doing so, leaving it that way for another minute or so before reconnecting it again and allowing it to go through its usual set up procedure, something which can take around 3 minutes to complete before it starts responding to the remote control.

Although the aforementioned usually clears problems of this nature, if though it doesnt! then use the "new install" procedure.

1 : Press "Services" on your Sky remote and you'll see the "Options" menu
highlighted.

2 : Press the right arrow to select "Settings" then press on.

3 : Press (in smooth succession) 0 - 1 - Select then you will see the
set up screen.

4 : Press the right arrows to highlight "Install" which then changes to New
Install when you do this - press "select".

5: Follow the instructions on your TV screen until you see the message
"Installation Complete" is displayed then press select.

However, before carrying out any of these two procedures, try swapping the LNB1 and LNB2 inputs over and check that the "no signal" problem remains the same, which it should!

D Mac.: Although the chances are that you "will" have to change its direction, but though its impossible to advise on what the direction should be without having knowledge of your location, this preferably being in the form of a post code or one from nearby, e.g: a shop / post office.

Bob Langley : Although you are located at an angle to the rear of the S/C transmitter, you are still indicated on the coverage chart as being able to receive the L-BRM signal. Therefore if your TV or box has a "manual" tuning facility, try entering C51 but "not" followed by pressing scan, as on most devices if any signal is being received, the strength and quality (the most important!) of the signal (no matter how low) will be indicated on the signal bars free of threshold level restrictions.

michael lawrence: Advice on problems of this nature can only be given if a location known, this preferably given in the form of a post code or one from a nearby shop / post office, this info being necessary in order to enable access to the status of the transmitter's that cover the area, plus the viewers location relative to that of the transmitters.

Graham: Rather than continually retuning the problem TV, carry out a "manufacturers reset" on it first followed by retuning, this procedure also referred to on some brands as "default setting" / "first time installation" or similar.

Should subsequent testing reveal the situation as not having improved, carry out the aforementioned procedure again, but this time with the problem TV being temporarily connected into the aerial outlet point used by one of the other TV's you report as being OK.

If this still fails to rectify the problem, then the TV is defective, possibly requiring a software update!

pauline: The answer is basically yes!, that is provided that no part of your neighbours satellite dish assembly is protruding over the vertical boundary line that separates the two properties.

Graham : In addition to that said in my previous (7:25PM) reply. You should also try swapping the jumper leads over between the TV in question and the other known to be OK, if this makes no difference to the situation, have a look at the aerial input socket on the problem TV and check that its circular centre section, the part that grips the middle pin of the coax plug, hasn't become widened, crimping same (slightly) if necessary.

By the way, that said is on the basis of you having reported that two other TV's are OK, and which its assumed, are being used on the same aerial system.
