Anyway, many thanks for the update and pleased that the situation has now been amicably resolved, albeit that your first posting about this issue was made on an "unlucky for some" day of Friday the 13th of September.

Will: Octo LNB's are no more difficult to fit over that of a quad LNB, and although when they were first introduced 8 output LNB's were expensive devices quality blocks such as seen on the link, and which are used by Sky, can now be purchased for around £20.00 or so complete with an alternative mounting bracket to suit older dishes, these types also being sold by Amazon at around the same price range and where you can read the comments made by purchasers of the device.
By the way, beware! as the price seen on the Satcure advert does not include P&P and VAT.

Neil Bell: Although its a bit late now that you have this installed, but you would have better using a Quattro 4 output LNB in conjunction with a multi-switch unit positioned in your loft / cupboard or wherever with the number of outputs chosen to suit your requirements, this being the system used to supply multiple satellite points to hotel rooms or blocks of flats.
By the way, although a quattro LNB has 4 outputs similar to a quad type it does not work in the same way as each of the four outputs are fixed: (1) Low band V - (2) Low band H - (3) High band V - (4) High band H, and with all four being fed into the four inputs on the multi-switch unit, each of the individual multi-switch outlet ports feeding the satellite points responding to polarity commands from the satellite box rather than the LNB.

F.W.Coleman: The Drama channel is broadcast on the same multiplex as ITV1, and so if you are receiving ITV1 OK and yet a retune does not add 20 to the EPG listings then you should carry out a "first time installation" rather than a normal retune, this also being known as "factory reset" or "default setting" or some other similar sounding name.

Bill : On the subject of losing channels in standby, just purely out of curiosity I was wondering if you are meaning that although still listed in the EPG guide selecting them from same results in a blank screen? or are you meaning that they have also disappeared from the guide?

Brennig: In that case you simply connect the two feeds from the dish into your Humax Freesat box and go though the usual set up procedure which involves you entering your post code when requested, this for no sinister reason other than to enable the box to tune into the transponders appropriate to providing the correct regional news services for your area.

Neil Bell: Thanks for the explanation, but as far as my suggestion with regards to possibly using a multi-switch system, when taking into account the sheer complexity of your set up then the system you are presently using albeit slightly untidy, is by far the less costly way of doing things, as even a Labgear MS512E/S which uses a single Quattro input and provides 12 individual outputs costs in the region of £130.00, and if you are using a 4 satellite set up then the cost of the equipment alone would be totally prohibitive for a domestic installation.
But on your latter comment, yes! I quite agree on that point.

Bill: Changing the box for another brand model was indeed the best policy, as the symptoms described in your reply to my particular query are, as far as I am aware anyway, not a known issue with this model and neither can they be caused by an incorrect setting having been made in the set up menu, then this only leaves a defective tuner as being the most likely reason for the boxes erratic performance.

rob: Standard twin coax of the type referred to can indeed result in a slight signal loss even if the cable run is relatively short of say around 5m or so, therefore when taking appearance into account along with performance I would use a high quality version such as Webro WF65CU as this type is suitable for a wide variety of situations.
