I am not saying that your box is afflicted with this problem, but purely for a test you should blank out "all" channels stored in the tuner followed by tuning in the COM7 mux on C32 / 562.0Mhz, if by any chance this works, see if you can add the main BBC1 HD / ITV1 HD Mux on C39+ / 618.2Mhz.
By the way, what brand of media box is being referred to? and does this have some form of built in tuner or are you using a dongle?

Tony : In addition to that said, should you still not be able to receive COM7 on the single tune test procedure referred to, what strength and quality is COM7 (C32 / 562.0 Mhz) being received at on your TV?

John Cameron: As the transmitter is only located at approximately 0.75 of a mile up the Cruach Road from you, if you are a car user you would get bang up to date information as to the situation by taking a pop up to the transmitter and having a word with the engineers (should any vehicle be present) as I am sure that you would find them most approachable.

Frank Briffa: The purpose of this site is to provided viewers with technical assistance concerning problems with reception etc, and as such not connected in any way with the content of programmes being broadcast.
You can find out the information you require by scrolling to the top of this page where you will see the link to the official Made in Tyne and Wear website.

Sandra : As far as being able to view the range of channels listed under the Sky "no card" heading is concerned the answer is yes!, and that applies to anywhere in the UK.
On the subject of the communal aerial, if you reside in a property of a nature whereby aerials or dishes are not allowed, then your house / flat will in the majority of cases (only the odd exception) be fitted with a communal aerial socket for the purpose of receiving normal Freeview transmissions as well as one for a satellite device, the latter connection easily identified by it being exactly the same threaded type of socket as that fitted on the rear of your Sky box.
The only variation you might find is that there is only one satellite connection, whereas a Sky+HD box requires two, should this apply then make sure that the connection from the wall plate is connected into your Sky boxes LNB1 input and not LNB2, and (although not absolutely necessary) that your Sky box is set (via the menu) on "single input feed" mode, this eliminates the "no satellite signal" message popping up when you try to select certain channels that requires a LNB2 input connection as well as LNB1.
Further advice will be provided dependant on feedback as to any variations you might have to the aforementioned, as the comment you made about having to switch your box off for a while could indicate a defect in the Sky boxes internal power supply.

Sandra : In addition to that said, another aspect you should be aware of about cancelling your Sky subscription is that your Sky+HD box will revert to being a non recording / non playback standard box, as Sky will disable your access to this side of the box whereby you will not be able to view anything you have previously recorded, that is unless you are prepared to pay a monthly fee of around £10.25 for the dubious privilege of being able to retain this side of the box, most viewers preferring not to and opting to go along the Freesat line, Freesat devices being 100% compatible with Sky dish connections.

sandra: If your box has been set on single feed mode then nothing should really be connected (or is necessary) into the LNB2 socket, as only the main LNB1 input is being used.
However, purely to find out if any signal is actually present on LNB2, try a test using the following procedure.
(1): Press "Services" and you will see the main menu with "Options" being highlighted.
(2): Press the right arrow once to change from Options to "Settings" and press on. (pictures highlighted)
(3): Finally, scroll across to the right to select and press on "Signal", the grey bars now displayed will show you the strength / quality of the signal.
If you only see LNB1 listed then your box is indeed on single feed, the test being to leave the box on that menu and unscrew the LNB1 input connector, this resulting in the strength and quality immediately vanishing, next stage is to swap the LNB2 input over to the LNB1 input and observe if the signal returns after about 20 seconds or so, if as expected, nothing is seen then just leave that connector off, as it doesn't serve any purpose.
By the way, if on the signal test screen you do see LNB2 input mentioned, then the box is "not" on single feed mode.
Back on the subject of Sky no card programme channels, you can easily verify what you will, and will not, be able to view by simply removing your viewing card and running through the channels, a "please insert card" message popping up on any channel that requires the card.
Another point to note being, that even although you cancel your subscription the card is still necessary to enable you to receive the news channels etc appropriate to the area you happen to reside in, otherwise they will have reverted to London.

Denise: Newer versions of Sky+ HD boxes do not have RF modulators built into the box, therefore you will have to purchase what's known as an I.O. port modulator such as seen in the link.
Lower cost alternatives can be found on places like e-bay or even Amazon.

Barrie Dibble: The Plympton transmitter was indeed off this morning between the hours of of 11.22 and 11.40, but though it should have been back on again at the time you had posted your message.
However, in cases like this its sometimes far quicker to get up to date information by making a local enquiry with a neighbour etc, rather than relying purely on the fault reporting system.

anita: Are you sure that the device you are referring to isn't a 4G filter?, as these are supplied free by a company called AT800 to households located in areas deemed as being possibly affected by a newly installed mobile phone 4G transmitter, 4G filters restricting the effect that 4G signals can have of Freeview reception.
