Pat: Larke Stoke @ 191 degrees / 7.5 miles is indicated as being your best bet for reception and with Sutton Coldfield your second choice, it located at 348 degrees / 29 miles, although to be perfectly honest about it same room aerials are never really satisfactory unless the transmitter is within sight, although even then you can still experience problems caused by movement within the room.

That said, same room aerials can however perform better than expected if mounted in the loft using a coax extension lead.

Bruce: Yes, but the Sharp is not really of any use for that type of test as its incapable of responding to DVB-T2 signals thereby giving the impression that none exist.

Bruce: If you are receiving EPG numbers 1 - 3 - 10 - 11 - 18 perfectly OK then its almost guaranteed that you will also be receiving C40 S/C's HD transmitter, that is "if" you are using a TV or box fitted with a DVB-T2 tuner.

That said, another point to be aware of is that HD reception can be killed off if the signal from the HD transmitter is overloading the receiver, and although you would appear to be located at 16 miles away from the transmitter and which would normally be too far away to cause this type of problem, but if you are using any form of booster then try by-passing it as unfortunately I am unable to view the picture of your aerial referred to.

Bruce: If you referring to the tri-element aerial under the banner of "digital high gain " then this could be classed as being a tad over the top, a log periodic such as a DM log or Log 36 being more appropriate to your requirements as according to the terrain checker you have a clear line-of-sight to the transmitter.

jacqui chesterfield: Magic eye systems as used in Sky boxes are not suitable for use with Freesat devices, however this type of Video sender device as seen by clicking on (or opening) the undermentioned link should suit your requirements.

Paul: What you have reported could indicate that either your Sky boxes RF modulator is defective or there is something in your set up (self oscillation) that is causing interference to the analogue signal.

Try connecting a jumper lead directly from the Sky boxes RF1output and into your TV's aerial input socket then carrying out an analogue scan on the TV.

Further advice dependant on outcome.

george Anderson: Your problem is simply caused by the boxes operating system having locking up, something not exactly alien in many low end boxes of dubious pedigree sold by the DRG group.

Disconnect it from the mains for around 30 seconds or so before reconnecting it again when hopefully this action will have restored the device to normal operation.

Paul : In addition to that said, if the aforementioned direct coupling procedure did not make any difference to the situation then remove the aerial connection going into the Sky box and see if this does, as it all really a process of elimination.

L Turner: What happens if you disconnect the box from the mains supply for 30 seconds or so before powering it up again? as re booting any digital device usually rectifies an operating system crash.

By the way, if not already doing so use a scart coupling between the Samsung and the TV.
