EmlynUwchCych: Work in progress all of this week at Preseli which is liable to cause interruptions to service, but I doubt if this would be for any more than about 30 minutes or so at the most.
If your screen is still blank select BBC1 and carry out a signal strength check, as although there may not be any picture showing the signal will still be there, but just at a level not high enough to resolve a picture.
This said assuming that you did make the mistake of carrying out a re-tune on seeing a blank screen, as the only thing that this action achieves is to lose everything already stored in the memory, and which necessitates frequent re-scans being made in an attempt to recover the channels lost.
By the way, you are also predicted to be able to receive Freeview from the Preseli relay PSB only (limited channels) transmitter called Llandyfriog, this located at roughly 2 miles away, although with your aerial being horizontally mounted for Preseli this would cut you chances down of receiving it, Llandyfriog transmitting a vertically polarised signal.

jo: That's good news then! although with you being located at about only 4 miles or so away from the transmitter you will now need to hope that your signal isn't just that little bit too good come March 7th when Whitehawk Hill switches over to higher powered operation, that is from its present ERP of 200watts up to 4Kw, as an overpower-full signal can also cause problems in the receiving equipments tuner, symptoms of being exactly the same as to a weak one.
Easily rectified though simply by the with addition of an attenuator (£4.00 or so) in line with the aerial socket of the TV.

jo: Just to clarify, when I mentioned 200watts I was referring to BBC & SDN (ITV3 etc) as the other muxes already range from 400w to 1KW. (Mux B BBC4 / CBeebies etc)

Joan Grealy: Delete all channels stored in the memory by removing the aerial lead and carrying out a re-tune without it, nothing will obviously be received but this action will blank the memory, then once done reinsert the aerial again and carry out another re-tune to recover the channels.

Gisoo: I certainly feel that you have chosen the best option, as apart from the channels issue it would really be a bit of a waste not to use the ex-Sky dish already installed, with another plus point of Freesat being that unlike terrestrial Freeview excellent reception can be guaranteed for almost 99.9% of the time, as any time that a glitch or two does happen usually always being during heavy thundery downpour.

jon: You wouldn't be able to record anything anyway as Sky disables the recording side of the box when the subscription is cancelled, so if the just extend the single cable the box will operate like a normal Sky box.
Remember though to use a proper "F" plug to "F" plug connector if you are joining the cable, and the cable must not have anything else tagged on to it.

Kieran: I would refrain from re-booting the Sky box as I don't feel that's the issue, the aspect I am not fully sure about is by you saying "no signal", are you referring to a Freeview signal from a normal aerial that's possibly going into the TV but being linked through the Sky HD boxes RF1 (or2) output? this because you are possibly using the Sky boxes RF modulator to feed Sky into another room?
If though this doesn't apply then maybe you could further clarify, and in particular regarding the RF, unless that is you are referring to the inputs from the dish.
