After reading the list of channels used by Freeview from Sudbury (re: jb38) my scans have never picked up channel 47. Is this an error or am I missing out here?

Dave, thank you for explaining that channel 47 is the HD multiplex. I currently haven't got an HD tuner. I'm considering updating my equipment and think it would be better to switch to Freesat as there are more stations available and should I move into a poor reception area or one with just PSB coverage I'd be ok. I also believe that Freeview capacity is limited and that little expansion is possbile and it will limit the number of stations able to transmit HD over Freeview.

When I checked my signal strength for Sudbury this morning channels: 56, 58 and 60 all come through as 92%. Hope it helps Nick.

With Sudbury finally transmitting on full power we read that with the introduction of 4G services by the moblie phone companies that Freeview may be disruppted for over two million viewers. If 4G goes ahead does anyone know if it will affetct Sudbury Freeview services? I read that some kind of filters will have to be connected to affected equipment to correct the problem. Sounds like more hassle.

Nick I've lived in the Woodbridge area for many years. TV reception has always been a problem in several areas of the town and surrounding area. You will see some aerials pointing towards Sudbury main , some Aldeburgh and others Woodbridge relays. Why not forget Freeview and go for FreeSat? Many more channels good reception. You'd have the expense of a dish and box but should solve reception problems.

Hi Jason. I listen to Radio 4 on FM and sometimes via my tv. If I walk between rooms it can be bit weird as the tv is about a second behind the FM radio. From what I've heard, the speed at which digital decoders works varies from product to product, so assume that expains the difference you experience. The 'pips' when received digitally are very slightly out of sync.
