You argue rightly that sky is within it's rights to buy tv channels in order to make money for it's shareholders - no one can dispute this it is simply good business. However I thought that there is surely a case for ofcom and the competion comission to look at the growing influence that sky has in this market (however the government would not accept the recommendation as per proposed news corp deal where they have given sky time to find a compromise i.e. sell off loss making sky news)
2 points - why can sky not be made to provide the same diversity of programs for FTA channels as bbc, itv etc have to provide.
Also Dave channel was threatened a couple of years back pre red dwarf easter special for not providinbg original programming - surely a channel dedicated to repeating game shows cannot be providing original programs.
