Andrea, are you sure that your TV can receive satellite signals directly? You probably need a satellite receiver between wall socket and TV. If you can borrow any kind of satellite receiver, try an automatic retuning scan to be sure your wall socket actually supplies signals from 13E. (It might be that the wall socket is not connected to the satellite distribution system in the building!) You should be able to receive
all the free-to-air channels, including a lot of Italian ones. Italian websites will then help you identify a satellite receiver which is compatible with your Tivusat card. I hope these ideas help; it is difficult to diagnose from a distance :-)

Mike and Andrea : if the TV does include a satellite tuner it just might work with a CAM and Tivu card, but they may only work in "dedicated" Tivu sat receivers. This is the case for the French TNT system. In any case a first step would be to ascertain whether a satellite signal from 19E or 13E is present at the wall-socket. Any FTA sat receiver would detect this, in which case the inbuilt sat receiver should resolve free-to-air broadcasts. The manual might help... It would also be worth checking whether others in the same complex receive French, Spanish or Italian programmes from 19E or 13E. If so, helpful neighbours might be willing to set up their box between Andreas wall-socket and the TV to check it. If a signal is present, it would be helpful to know the TV model etc to be able to advise further. Andrea, to recap the main issues, 1:check for satellite signal at the wall-socket. 2: If yes, check internal sat-receiver settings to receive free-to-view channels. 3: If ok, check documentation or internet re compatibility of the CAM and Tivusat card. If not compatible, you will need a dedicated TIvusat receiver and card.

Andrea : looking hopeful now! You evidently understand the technicalities, so should be able to get
things working. I hope Tivu will now activate your card. It should be automatic, but as Tivu is intended to be available to codice addresses in Italy, they may hesitate if they know where you are. Keep us posted!
Best wishes,
Michael

Fabien: How do they circumvent the legal domicile requirement? We should have free access to goods and services within the EU, but this remains an undefined exception, strangely subordinate to local rights and contracts.

Could be a viable innovation - for those with enough broadband megabits-per-second. The rest of us remain highly valued by BBC bosses for the licence-fee we pay...

700MHz clearance and its implications.

Are all transmitters' new channels already published?
Due to marginal signal strengths, I would be happy to replace
my current log with a future-proof and more efficient yagi.

Ofcom announced that G3/G4 boosters will be legalised in early 2018.
Is information on the implementation of this available?

This will be invaluable for locations currently without a mobile phone signal -
and profitable for new service provision in the vacated 700MHz band.
These relatively lower frequencies will mean that the rx/tx aerials inside
hand-held equipment will be even shorter compared to wavelength, and
therefore less efficient. Consequently coverage in current mobile fringe areas
may still be patchy. However new, relatively lower, frequencies
used will "bend" into the topography slightly better than, say 1800MHz.
Overall, we should (sic!) enjoy a better service.

Where is the most reliable and detailed information on BBC MW full and partial closures published?
I emailed BBC Radio Devon some time back and - surprise - got no reply.
Some "information" suggests Radio Devon MW will be restricted to morning and
evening peak times, other sources suggest only Torbay is affected.

In many low-lying rural areas MW is the only or best option. FM and DAB signals can be
zero or subject to break-up. Freeview is NOT a serious alternative as you are tethered to an aerial socket
and can only listen when in a TV room. It would seem the BBC is following the fibre-outreach agenda:
focus on the denser populated areas;the others don't matter.

Information on reliable sources most welcome!

Thanks for the confirmation! This is what I found, but previously it was reported that Radio Devon on MW would be restricted to morning and early evening only. In many areas, FM and DAB coverage is satisfactory, but in low-lying and coastal areas only MW is reliable. It is understandable that the BBC shold review real need for MW, so it is welcome to know that we have a reprieve! The Freeview option is a bit like going back in time when you had to be in the living room to listen to the one "wireless set" in the house...

Hector:
KH is fine here on the south side of the water. Check your aerial and coax and connectors for damage. Our recent high winds and rain might have moved or damaged your installation. My chimney log came down last week, but I was able to re-fix it temporarily with a ratchet strap - and will do a proper job when the weather is friendlier!
