D one simple question have you had your aerial checked out if you have a problem having it checked and repaired or replaced you could have all your channels fine.

Mike you carnt use the cables for freeview you ciuld use them for freesat. If you only have freeview call your landlord and ask him to have an aerial fitted.

Nina one simple answer is to get an outside aerial not some cheap indoor aerial. If you can take the aerial back and get your money back do so and put it towards an outdoor aerial.

David do you have a tv aerial going into your sky box this will give you your freeview in the kitchen

Brian a simple solution could be the lead from the wall to the tv. Try a lead that has been made up not pre made use the best coax you can and good plugs if the plugs have a small screw in it remove it and dont use it. Finaly the outside of the coax the brade doesnt touch the inside copper core this could solve your problems

Steve p you are wrong i have worked on a Philips tv and they are hard work i had an instlation pointing to winter hill but still ended up with storton wood wales and yorkshire as well as winter hill so it is not about the way the aerial is facing a strong antenuator might remove the weaker signals from other transmitters.

Glenn your amplifier could be faulty some new amplifiers are better screened plus try a log periodic aerial they surpress implus noise very well hope this helps

Steve p you are not an aerial rigger i see an aerial will pick signal up from lots of different directions When you get lots of different transmitters normaly the one you point the aerial at is the strongest so reducing the signal can get rid of the other transmitters but this isnt allways the case, i have had an aerial pointing to winter hill giving a signal strength of an average of 46 dbuv but signal from wales coming in off the back of the aerial of 50dbuv this is when problems come in filters can work but are hard to get from dealers and customers wont pay.

dave in over 20 years of fitting aerials i have only come accross too much signal and that is with an amplifier and never one fitted in a loft this is from someone who fits aerials not someone who just looks at the internet and other peoples posts. If your aerial wont work in the loft there could be lots of reasons why, foil insulation, solar panals, or outside problems like trees. Have you instaled the coax rigth if your coax plug has a screw in it remove it this can short the coax . If it wont work in the loft it might have to go out side if you arnt any good on ladders or roofs get a local aerial rigger to do it rigth first time.
