Hi,
I am a TV service engineer and have had an odd problem since April. I had 3 customers reporting problems on ITV. In all 3 cases the TVs were Beko models of about 2.5 years old. You could watch any BBC channel all day but after a few moments on an ITV channel the picture would freeze and the set would lock up (crash). The set needed to be switched off at the power to reset. I of course suspected a signal problem so took the first one in to my workshop to test on my aerial and found that the same thing happened. My only quick remedy was to add a Freeview box, which then gave perfect results on ITV in all 3 cases. I now have the same problem on a similar aged Grundig made by another of the Turkish manufacturers, Profilo.
I would like to know of other people with this problem and what may bem causing it as in all cases everything was OK until April, 14 months after DSO.

Hi George,
I think this will be cured by carrying out a
"restore to factory settings" in the "Box Settings" section of the menu. The box will reset to its "birth" condition and a re-install will be required as if it were brand new.
Regards,
Chris (doing the job for nearly 50 years!).

M D Tomlin:
I had many of these Sonys with the same problem here in the North West when we carried out our DSO 2.5 years ago.
I always made a positive out of a negative situation by sugesting that the user invests in a twin tuner Freeview+ Recorder (Humax etc.) this is used to "convert" the TV to 8k Freeview and also gives the facility to record another channel.

Alison: Hi, you need to switch your TV back to analogue and see if its still there on CH6 in fact your Sky box on CH6 will be the only analogue channel still there. If after switching your TV back to analogue you still can't find it you may need to carry out an analogue retune to restore it, you may then find that it has been stored on analogue CH1.
The Sky link and Magic eye communicate with your TV on analogue and is not receivable by your TV in Digital mode. You simply switch to analogue for Sky and back to digital(DVB) for Freeview.
Regards,
Chris

mary mc crory: Hi, No your Sky card is married to your Sky box by a process sent out over the satellite when you first got the card/box in NI. If you take the card to Spain you may get some of the non premium Sky channels with a "wrong card for this set top box" message on the premium channels.
