Christine Brocklebank: If that power cut has taken the transmitter off air then you won't get anything. Best thing now is to check over the next few hours to see if it returns when power is restored to the area.

Keith Towers: You seem to be getting things mixed up. Freeview is terrestrial TV received via an aerial from a land based transmitter, it is not received via a satellite dish. If you are referring to a problem with receiving Freesat via a satellite dish then that has nothing to do with Rowridge or any other land based transmitter.

John Bayliss: The Digital UK trade checker result for your postcode suggests that reception would be substantially worse with a horizontally polarised aerial which would suggest that your aerial rigger was correct to fit the aerial with vertical polarisation. COM7 and COM8 in particular show a very weak predicted signal strength.

Eileen: You will continue to receive the free to air satellite channels (which includes most of the channels available on Freeview) via your Sky boxes, however the ability to pause, rewind and record requires an active Sky subscription to function. BT's TV package combines Freeview received via an aerial with a selection of subscription channels (depending on which packages you choose) which are listed at the following link:

Eileen: I highly doubt that a BT engineer would install a TV aerial for you. You will be able to pause and record if you take one of BT's Youview+ boxes.

nicholas: Why go to the bother of taking down someone's old band 3 aerial which will have been corroding away for several decades when there are plenty of brand new VHF band 3 aerials on sale which are intended to be installed in a loft or on a roof for DAB reception?

Christopher: S4C is only broadcast on Freeview from transmitters in Wales, non of which can be received in London. It is available elsewhere via satellite and since the BBC now provide a large proportion of funding, S4C's programs are also available on iPlayer.

Ken Senior: If there was a fault with a broadcast satellite it would affect all viewers of those channels across the whole country. Something is either damaged or faulty with their the cable (water could have gotten in somewhere), LNB receiver on the dish or possibly the box. Unplug the Sky box at the mains, then unscrew the connections on the back of the Sky box and check there are no loose strands of the outer braid touching the inner connector at the end of the cable. Then check along the cable back towards the dish and the connectors on the dish itself if you can safely access it.

mark wheeler: The Bromsgrove transmitter which you have posted against is not indicated as being receivable at your postcode. Your most likely transmitters are either Malvern or Ridge Hill, neither of which show any current faults or engineering work. Therefore it is most likely that the problem is with your aerial system. Start at the back of the TV and check all the cables and connections are tight, then work your way back as far as you can safely access towards the aerial. Do not attempt to retune as this will delete all of your channels, leaving you no way of knowing when the fault is fixed.

Christine Brocklebank: There are no faults listed for the Wooburn transmitter (nothing for Chepping Wycomber either which you have posted under) so the fault is most likely within your aerial system. Start at the back of the TV and check that all cables and connectors are in tight and not damaged, then work back as far as you can safely access towards your aerial. Do not attempt to retune your TV as this will delete all your channels so you won't know when the fault has been fixed.
